then why not say '2018-04-30' instaid of 'ages' when it literally wasn't even a year ago.

your first post should have been:
'They added the option to config less then a year ago, no more messing with xml.

heres how you do it:
bla bla go config bla bla add this bla bla'

I've tried adjusting both map settings in the default config, but upon opening Ryzom, they are set back to 2 and 8 and the app has to relaunch.

ok, there was no MaxMapScale=2.0; in my normal config file. I will try adding it with a higher number.

Bump with the player created solution (player fixed this issue long before it was 'added')

found the solution to this problem, and made it simple for you:

download this file map.xml.zip

rename from "map.xml.zip" to "map.xml"

(next step best done while offline {not logged into game}, to ensure it doesn't get deleted when you log off)

place "map.xml" in the "user" folder or the "ryzom\data" folder

enjoy a greater zoom in on the mini-map. (no more fighting to try to click the right flag)

note: the map get's a little pixelated when zoomed in to the max, but that's the only price to this handy fix.

Incase you missed my previous post about this issue.

You can add "MaxMapScale = 4.0;" to client.cfg to modify map zoom limit without modifying map.xml file. 4.0 is current default.

Also map shows closest landmarks on landmark right click menu now so this issue should be moot.

then i'm happy as can be to know that it's a much simpler fix now.

but the point being made here was that players found the 'fix' long before it was made 'officially' was all karu i really wanted to point out, that ryzom is very much a community loved project and if given time and motivation we'll find solutions to 'problems' that are valid and useful. you even helped with the process all that time ago guiding me in the right direction to find that fix karu.

i'm glad it has an official solution now, but it was player solved first was my point.
