Well, for this year we're almost done, but assuming we'll still be here come next Christmas, please ...

- Take out q50 generic mats. Most people hunting the trees are masters in at least a skill, and have most if not all crafts above 50. Even assuming one craft skill below 50, one full stack of generics will get you way past 50 in one go; multiple stacks are useles.

Directly wasteful, lots of q50 stacks end up destroyed since they're not tradeable.

- Only add correct catalyzers for the gameplay, i.e. take out q200+ ones. It's been requested regarding faction merchants too. If anything, the extra types take up 2 extra slots.

- Maybe add two (or more) spawns for each region. This has been discussed in 'camping' threads, multiple spawns seems a promising idea.

- Change gift type according to contents? i.e. small gift for catalyzers, normal for generics, big for shields / yubo etc.

- Oh and maybe not place a tree in the goo. If lower players are supposed to join, goo surely can kill them in a second..

Remove cats, f2p don't generally hunt trees. I get more than I can bother to hand out from various npc encounters.

Make gen mats tradeable, preferably, or remove q50 and q100. Those qualities are not helpful apart from cluttering inventories and getting destroyed.

Add sap crystals.

Add eggs (life eggs, speed eggs etc, since these were in presents found here and there long ago).

Spawning small, large and huge boxes according to what's in them would be very helpful. Some people do not want mats, it's a pity when they get a load of untradeable ones.

Fireworks? I think fireworks could be in them.

Another thing that could save the generic mats in them would be adding choice and exc grades, in respectively lesser quantities, of course. Exc gen mats were given to all reckless players in quantity, so I feel confident a dozen here and a few there won't break anything, economywise.

Lastly, if you apartment decorations are added until then, maybe decorations could be added, through some quest npc like kitin observers, tokens for items. Maybe even tokens for title? Grinch, anyone?

Please do not do this. I want to get more q50 gen mats. They are perfect for using with my q50 tekhorn stun gun. Since the mats have no wait caring them around is easy. You never know when the need to stun another homin may come up.

+1 For replacing cats with sap recharges.

In terms of changing anything else I would disagree. q50 gen mats do have a lot of uses you just have to know how to use them. If you are actually destroying q50 gen mats then don't loot them in the first place- let someone else in your team have :)

Unconvincing. If you are fond of q50 gen mat, it may be bought cheaply at faction or PvP traders.
I did 2 master and 2 expert grades in ranged combat without using a single generic mat. Instead I mastered 2 times ranged crafting and brought the others to 230 and 220. Hardly possible with gen mat q50.

Unconvincing. You can easily destroy the gen mats you do not want, or better yet leave the trees to those homins who know how to utilize everything the trees drop. Waste Not, Want Not.

And all from Atysmas trees? Btw. I fail to consider it something to be proud never digging mat, but so what. My point was not that one cannot train with. But even for range one may consider that method bit .. exotic.

Atysmas trees and their loot are not for a few players refusing to dig, doing leech-training of range and not being willing to get gen mat from nation or PvP merchants. They are meant for all players. Mjollren's proposal was directed to the majority of players who have no benefit from q50 gen mat and might even choose to train range differently. For me, it was fun to train with a good launcher, a good pistol, and a good gun. If I had deemed gen mat useful I would not have needed it from trees.

In fact, I deemed trees boring as I knew them only giving gen mat and cats. And though there are a couple of new things, I still do not consider them exciting. But I would welcome improvements.

Hey, to each his own, I guess having extra options doesn't hurt. If you have a boatload of sap crystals then you can train with any bullets, of course.

But still, I heard more than 1 person saying the same, that they're getting generics with faction points and that catalyzers are useless to them, so they weren't interested in the trees at all.

So .. back to square 1, trying to propose some drops that would interest more people, and trying to make the hunts a bit more interesting.

Yes daomei either gen mats or OP wars have leveled it. You seem to be forgetting that christmas trees don't only drop gen mats and cats.

The drops are very interesting mj. I have now traded the loot for 6 npc crystals with the mats. If some people fail to see the value of christmas tree loot you can at least understand the value of npc crystals?

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.
