I think it would lead to greater understanding why certain people were posting certain items.

to what end? for what purpose? i don't understand why you say "understanding why certian people where posting certian items".  what does the faction of a player's toon have to do with it?

i'm kami, but i've defended karavan and mara players on the forums and in game if i believe that my (or another) faction is attacking unjustly or for a (imho) foolish reason.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

What if a player changes factions ? It happens. Then older posts would show the wrong faction, making the feature useless.
