I wish to suggest you that we could have at Silan, some cool and/or huge events, time to time, so newbies could have a small idea of what they will find at Mainland. And of course, so some experienced players that have characters with advanced skills, at Silan, to help newbies, could have a chance to play hard also at Silan! :D
Just an Idea.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

And of course, so some experienced players that have characters with advanced skills, at Silan, to help newbies, could have a chance to play hard also at Silan! :D

You could call the recent kitin invasions in the capitals large-scale, if not cool.

I'm guessing Silan could have recurring invasions, with kitins escaping from the jungle. Or some of the bandits getting rowdy, etc.

OMG! No no no no! i have to disagree! imagine giant kipestas flying in and scarying all those little baby noobs being born every day in Silan out of their wits?? Poor little things! They will go running to their mommies all the way to the hills when they are just trying to figure things out. It would be like taking your 2 year old out trick or treating and having some joker scare the heck out of them and watching them cry, lol.
But if you have an event there, it needs to be kinder and gentler, not to cater to experience players imho. :)

They should open travel up to Silan for players from the ML. Let us return there an do some pvp in pvp arena.

You're right, sure. But it could be some other ideas. Or as you say, it could be kinder and gentler, or instead of a flying of giants kipestas and scaring little baby noobs, it could happen for an example a kind of a Dominant Cray at Island a little more strong. Staying at little island, only going there who want to try it! :)

I am against this completely. Silan is meant to be an interactive tutorial, and it should continue to be just that. It was designed to teach new players how Ryzom works, not a permanent place to stay. If you are bored, go to the mainland.

how about a mass of yobo's that attack the camp, and the new players have to kill all the little yobo's? heck, you could even make a title for players that kill more then 20 of them, "silan yobo hunter" a cute silly title, but a reward that fits the place and would give them a taste of events, without killing them in the process.

Lol, i am partly teasing on last reply. Actually, i like Talkirc's Idea or the Cray Idea is cool, although they already have one on the island still?
Also, i agree with Beepe at the same time, one thing missing in the 'tutorial' on Silan i noticed is teaching how to make a macro. That can be added. Also, Maybe a pvp area event or missions associated with the pvp area on Silan. Seems alot of newbies like trying the pvp. Maybe a Silan title for being champ, idk

i also think that ranged fight should also be added to silan, as it's a big part of the game as well here on the mainland. though these are seperate ideas, they do have merit.

perhaps if ranged was added to silan they could have a "shoot out" in the pvp area, and a title could be made for the over all winner to carry between the shoot out events.

and yes there is still the dominant cray boss on the island, and they are not aggo as well.

Unfortunately to successfully do range you need to be a pretty good forager and crafter.... given other limitations on silan toons, I dont think it would work even if it was available :(

My first thought was - sure why not have Atysmas events on Silan and Easter Egg Hunts - but Bepee is right. This says it all for me.

I'm going to say I'm against the idea. Like Beepe said, Silan is meant to be a training island to help players learn the mechanics of the game - all events should be held in the mainland. The real game is in the mainland not Silan.

What we really need is events that include ALL levels of skills in the mainland. hint, hint! :P
