Sure, marauders from the ancient lands might have discovered Almati - Dante's camp is only 20km or so east of it ;). Yet, in the Lore as well as in all of recorded homin history ((the times since Ryzom has been played)) no appearance of marauders has been observed, and it would be ludicrous to rewrite history only for a marauder teleport.


Daomei, I am by training an ethnohistorian, and I can assure that History, like Lore, is fluid, changing, and dynamic.  Our understanding of the past is always in flux.   Just because marauders were not observed does not mean that means they were not there.  For example, it use to be taken as a concrete fact that Columbus was the first Eurpean to cross the Atlantic.

Nerwane: I would hate when the kitin lair would be stolen from the rangers (I was already deeply frustrated from the hijacking of the rangers event of kitin mounds by conflict happy factions and their ET cronies - I was about to leave the game then, and please, not again). Indeed, rangers not only are guarding the entrance, but are as well patrolling in several parts of the lair, and some of them have the ability to remain undetected and unharrassed by the kitins. So it is doubtful that they have not researched as much as possible of the lair - without finding marauders, there.

In short, I consider marauders showing up in the lair a damn bad idea.

No, Nerwane, I do not blame you for those affairs which are finished, fortunately (with the consequence of losing a great event guide). You had nothing to do with. But I think that planting marauders into KL would be a theft of rangers' territory, and not a good idea.

almati woods and the KL might be ranger domain, but rangers do not hate ANYONE on atys, even marauders, rangers protect all homin from the kitin attackers. marauders likewise don't like kitin because of their extended stays in the roots while everyone else fled.

thus the only thing the marauder and rangers have in common is dislike of kitin.

almati and the KL should not be restricted from ANYONE in game, we need to be fair about this, and while the rangers maintain the lair and almati, there's no reason to reject the marauders.

please let's be realistic about this, telling someone they can't enjoy some of the game content because of their alignment/civ/religion/organization is very childish and we're adults, let's try to act like adults.

everyone has the rite to have access to the KL and Almati.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

A little mention here.

Rangers on Atys are more or less like the Night's Watch in Game of Thrones. The factions are like the noble families in Westeros (and Marauders are included in factions there). The Marauders and the Rangers agree that Kitins are a common enemy of them. The Marauders have their own way of porting on Atys without the help of Karavan and Kamis. The Kamis and the Karavan, in my opinion, should kill them on sight when they see them get close to a temple, not offer them to teleport to Almati. Therefore, if the Marauders are to participate into rangers activities, they should be able to. But they should have a different access to the area. RP wise, it's sensible and logical. If there needs to be an event for it to happen because the lore doesn't say it has happened before, then so be it.

To say that Marauders shouldn't have an access of their own because they should be able to sneak up and do it otherwise and bla bla bla... forget it. The marauder faction should have access to more or less the same tools than the other factions to make their game interesting.

The core of my thoughts on the subject have been expressed already, however I will confess that I am very surprised by the objections I see written here. Most people get the main points -which are that Marauders may have fames opposed to Rangers, but that they aren't actually natural enemies, and that marauders should have access to the same tools as other players without needing to actually go OCC to access those tools.

Hello,

It seems necessary to remind the community of the basic rules about using Ryzom channels. Everyone must act as a polite and civilized individuals, and be respectful with WinchGate staff. Foul language and xenophobic talk are also prohibited. 

The forum is a place to exchange thoughts and of debate, in a good atmosphere for discussions. Animosity and agressive behavior against Ryzom staff is not something that is tolerated. Marauder players have the chance to have a volunteer who is dedicated and responsible for Marauders, and who spends all of his free time to work for them. He has explained during an OOC meeting, what he and some Ryzom teams are working on together for Marauders, and nearly everything that has been requested on the forums by players, is exactly what he stated was in progress with the team at in his OOC meeting. Such disrespectful comments from a part of the community are just unfair and demotivating for all the staff and are unacceptable.

I have also moderated several xenophobic posts. Such a behaviour is also unacceptable in a Ryzom channel.

I invite some of you to read again the Code of Conduct of Ryzom Services and to respect it. Please consider this as a general warning to the community. For those who continue to disregard these rules, the next time it will be more than a warning.

Phew.. Take a break for 4 days and my post blows up x)

Firstly can we please (as some said) keep on topic. This post is literally only aimed at getting a marauder out of context teleport- and getting it within the next week! Not waiting another year for a promised in context teleport.

Secondly tixi- my post did not deserve editing whatsoever and I believe editing my words simply because they point out the higher powers' poor organisation and slow progress is an abuse of your powers. The truth hurts but that is something that isn't my fault- it is the fault of the higher powers for killing my marauder IG RP experience by forcing me to go to kami temples for teleports.
Perhaps I should change my last name to snowden because you are treating me like a whistleblower and trying to hush my words..

You can argue whatever you want over whether marauders should or shouldn't have an Almati teleport but here are the facts:

1. We were told 1 year ago we would have one.
2. OOC: Kitin lair is a crucial game area and we should have a tp there
3. IC: a marauder asking a kami fuzzball (when we have -100 kami fame) to be teleported is simply unacceptable
4. It took me less than 5 minutes to make an ARK script for an OOC teleport. It would not take long at all to edit and implement this into the game.

A year long wait for something that can be temporarily fixed in 5 minutes is just wrong, not matter how you spin it. Hopefully these words won't get edited as well for speaking ill of the higher powers..

I will literally just add this.. because it needs serious stressing..

This fix will take less than 10 minutes to do and gives so many benefits. Devs just please think about it. 10 minutes and this issue is done- and its been a longstanding issue. Check virgem's ark script- you can find a template there which you can edit easy enough.
