Hello

I got my first P2P while I was still on Silan and I was sad to learn that cats are no more working for me as P2P.

Since then, I made Silan missions, City Welcomer missions, Sage missions and put lots of dappers in the fortune wheel, or where ever all the cats come from, I have a few 1000 useless cats in my apartment by now.

The faction merchants are offering cats of q200 and q250, these are completely useless, because F2P only need cats up to q150.

I have the permanent cat bonus with my P2P, this is already fine of course.
But I wonder if it would be possible to make consumable cats working for us P2P as well and double our bonus xp.

For example:
base points 3000 + perma cat 3000 + consumable cat 3000 = max xp 9000

Double XP is cool, triple or quadruple... sort of removes the challange from the game. :(

I would rather see an option to take off the perma cats then quadrupling cats

This discussion keeps cropping up :)

It entirely depends on how the game creators meant to shape the player experience. In some MMOs you grind levels just to push them out of the way, and make yourself available ASAP to end-game content (raiding bosses and such).

I believe that Winch Gate has designed the xp-curve in a way that the players will be stuck playing for a long time just leveling. Considering the lack of end-game content, bar a couple of activities, it feels obvious that WG will not (and more importantly should not) create ways to progress faster. Unless they introduce more content for high level players, speeding up their progress is pointless ;/

Of course, the situation is far from ideal as it is ..

when i think about my jewel crafting (or any crafting for that matter) i like this idea, same with all those dig's. there's a up side for those, the downside is that i can just see someone doing elem first with this and then never mastering anything else cause they thought everything would go that fast.

i'm on the fence on this one, i like it, but also see possible downsides, and MJ's got a point about the speed of things in the eyes of WG.

besides, there's the cookies quote to consider, cause this would be like letting us have at least a cookie.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

This idea of "I'm offended". Well I've got news for you. I'm offended by a lot of things too. Where do I send my list? Life is offensive. You know what I mean? Just get in touch with your outer adult. (Bill Hicks)

That's the spirit, Bina!

To end this never ending discussion, I'd go back and remove those perma-cats for subscribed accounts. Suddenly all those cats are useful again, faction points are of greater use, and outpost output becomes more meaningful.

Problem solved.

Imho this game is not about levelling and reaching lvl250 fastest, it's about the many possibilities to interact with others. The event team already changed focus to better integrate lower level homins, too.

All those cats I have, I got them as a "reward" for doing something. And they are no reward for me, because I am paying for the game. Thats my primary point of view, it just feels wrong as it is.

And because the cats are already in the game, everywhere, it seems to be the easiest way just to make them work.

Removing the perma cats, would be bad for new players (as me). And it would remove one of the incentives to sub.

I don't think it would make leveling so much faster, you still have to aquire the cats before you can use them.
Or do veteran player have so many cats in stock? Or a faster/easier way to aquire them than I have?

Well since perma cats where added after server merge to help ppl back on track fast that went reckless and such.

Maybe I think it would be worth to think about removing perma cats again and add them back to op's to produce (maybe the old old produce before it got lowered before merger).
I learned then to lvl without cats and it never felt bad for me. Yes there where ppl saying they where not lvling without cats and so only joined guilds with lots of ops to get their hands on cats. But this also meant at times increased op wars like when op produce was nudged down all of a sudden ppl wanted to own op's.

But giving ppl even more xp i don't think would be good for ryzom

I don't like the idea of even more bonus; a better idea would be to make the perma cats optional. I stopped using cats a long time ago and would be happy to turn the perma cats off.

If that's not an option, then what about changing the rewards that are given so that useless cats are not given to P2P players?

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

As far as I understand, most of these are hardcoded, thats the reason why they are still in game. It would be to much work/ not worth effort to remove/replace them. Seems to be a similiar problem with all the kill goo animals missions that are still around.

But to make an option to enable/disable the permacats should be not that complicated.
What is needed is a "button thing" to enable the perma cat again after disabling it by clicking on the icon (disabling like consumable cats). I think a simple object compareable to the camp fire starter could do that.

I understand why people would or wouldn't want this and I am unsure myself..

..but I will say is that they gave out cats which you could stack up at an event (so its possible) and that getting 9k melee xp was epic.

If such a thing were to be introduced OP cats shouldn't be things that you can stack- far better not having to deal with those awful things again. Instead there should be an occupation for it, which would be somewhat time consuming.

Just seen the vote- would people change their mind if these were cats from a new fun occupation? Replacing one time sink with another does no damage to the game and instead enhances gameplay.

(I also know there is a volunteer out there who wanted to make such a thing so it would be possible)

Hey stinky Virg, Would that occupation produce regular Catz or like a produce item that gives additional 50% xp for such-and-such time with a reuse time of blah blah...

#15 [en]

In my mind..

The occupation would produce.. *picks a colour*.. red cats.

You could stack together red + purple or.. red + green.. (but of course not green+purple).

This would enable occupation users to get red cats to stack with either their perma cats or OP cats.

'Red cats' would double xp just like an other cats.
