IDEAS FOR RYZOM

From a previous discussion I picked the impression that malplaced mektoubs may be a major molestation for many players. Most do not commit such transgression deliberately, but not few do it out of neglect because there is no risk and no punishment. Some even may abuse this feature for teasing or even grieving.

The idea is that rules are set up when and where mektoub parking is considered inappropriate. This may be the case on narrow platforms, stairways (the stairs towards florist master may be completely blocked by a mek) and so on.

Reckless or ruthless parking may result in a warning at first offense, a fine then (depending on player levels), and towing the mektoub if repeated. The mektoub will be moved to a CSR operated stable and only released after 1. payment of a level and number of offenses dependent fine and 2. a ban time depending on the number of offenses by the same player character.

Such ban may be a more efficient deterrence than just removing the mektoub from the location where it is molesting others or imposing a fine. Having access denied to a part of the inventory may be painful and an educating experience.

Rollocks can help you remove any unwanted Mektoubs if you are having issues Daomei.

This for me is basically imposing RP on others. What is next? Ban on naked homins running through towns and imposing fines for nudity? What is atys coming to..

Azazor -- Yes, packers and mounts disappear when the player logs off, but some players leave them in obstructive positions while the player goes off and does boss hunts or the like.

Let's not have rules for everything just because someone may misbehave. I would firstly trust common sense of other players and secondly common sense of the csr should there be an offender.

However, the way that Virg runs around naked does irritate me a lot :-p I believe this serious issue can be resolved by enforced body painting. Black glue resin, maybe?

Ditto.

The situations described here are nowhere near frequent.

+1 to that.

How about name + shame? - have the owner's name on the mek. Then everyone would know who is being an unprintable.

I think this would be the best solution, also think having the owner's name on meks has been suggested before. It'd be useful for other occasions as well not just parking issues.

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

it was neela, as part of the promised ability to name our mek's to help with policing names that would violate the naming rules.

i'm still waiting on the ability to name my mek's. ("talk's ride" "digger" "storage" "portable")

some of the reasons people were upset that we would be able to name them as i would, because they are not RP based names, but there are as many people (or more) that don't RP that would like to have this PROMISED feature.

like many things, just because we're told it will given to us, doesn't seam to mean it will really happen. there was also a complaint that if our toon's name was attached to the mek that it would be used as a way to attack that player, all i can say about that is: don't leave your mek in a place where it's at risk and you have nothing to worry about.

having the mek's named would also help when someone has blocked or impeded the ability to reach the stable boy directly in zora, would save me dappers and trouble when the owner doesn't respond to notices in uni to come move them. (it never fails that they show up AFTER they've been put to rest, lucky for them i'll give them the 125k per mek to replace them with a little advice to put them INSIDE the stable in the future.)

My Mek's don't have very RP names either - they're Binky (mount), Stobart, Betz and Dentressangle; I used to see a lot of their lorries on the way to work. :o)

Good Lord, what have I started .... [rolls eyes]

Can we not just have a good old fashioned Shookie Beer swilling shin dig or a Mek Flinging competition like the old days?
