This has happened to me more than once, in fact I'm growing extremely tired of this problem lately. It is sufficient to open the forums with the in-game browser, and the client will freeze, needing to be manually killed.

Osquallo has suggested that large threads tend to trigger this bug, mostly. It seems correct so far.

So, what can one do, except avoid reading forums while in-game?

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

It's when you scroll down to far, so on too long page.
Not only forum but all the web ig in fact even app (i have to split my page when too long ).

Before in game forum was only in game and you can't write too long post in game but now we can write them out game so because the page split by the number of post if there is too many long post on the same page she become too long and *Boum*

Ranger topic for exemple is dangerous in game ! too much post with long log.

Split the number of post by page when the count of all char in all post is to much can fix this i think.
But i don't know if it's all the same for everyone or if the "lenght" of the page before freeze depend on each computer.

I have figured that it's realy the length of the page but not the number of char.

For the same text with a windows open to half the size of my screen no freeze/crash even when scroll to the end, but if i reduce the windows and scroll again then freeze and boum.

Client from Ryzom Core sources (linux/mac) should not deadlock on scolling too far.
It still messes up ingame browser window (so not completely fixed), but its possible to recover from that.

If someone wants to dig deeper, then it's issue 73

For linux users, i've compiled for the lazy a static version of the client with the latest code from compatibility, including a lot of stuff, including this fix :)
32 bits version
64 bits version
For anyone interested, the (static) compilation process is explained on RF's wiki
