how about a way to rent packers while in silan? say 10,000 dappers each mek (no mounts) and when you leave for the main land your silan rental's are set free and you loose any items the packers had on them.

i don't think this would be too much of a challenge since silan has a stable, with a npc inside it, and i think that other's like me would keep a toon in silan longer this way.

and they could still be traded, that way somone about to go to the ml could offer to sell or trade them. poll to follow.

There should be no incentive to keeping people on Silan. It is meant to be a tutorial and training area.

In addition, new players are going to need that 10,000 when they get the the mainland.

On one hand, people have plenty of incentive to stay in Silan already, the lively Region chat and friendly peeps being one of them. I know many a homin that keep a toon or an alt in Silan for this very reason. Also, now that you mention it, alts are an excellent storage for extra mats, if you're so dedicated about gathering and crafting.

On the other hand, people need a way to sink money into the ground, so as to not inflate the currency too much. All new toons get about 60k daps by completing all the missions, and giving them a way to spend some 10% of that would be an interesting idea...

I was going to vote yes, but voted "other" instead.

The idea of having rental packers on Silan is quite good I think. There should be no need of alts for extra storage!!

I'd make two changes though:
a) The packers on Silan should be "normal" packers that add to your pets. (maybe adjust buy price to fit Silan)
b) Players should be able to go back to Silan again once they left it.

From my point of view, it makes no sense to never return to Silan again. Returning would allow experienced players to help newbies. And since there is no real benefit (game-mechnaic wise) to high level players, I think that would be good.

The packer you have on Silan becomes optional once you go to the Mainland. The player decides when to free it for the additional pet slot. Also it adds pets to the "tutorial" area.

I agree that there has to be a sink for money to keep the economy stable. But the 60k are nothing compared to the millions you can obtain on the mainland. So I think Silan is the wrong place for that.
Also, like I said: there should be no need for alts just for storage or because the game restricts access to certain regions.

I love the idea returning to Silan ! - I walked there once before but then that Tiximei ported me back again :(

and the way it should be done is by to make the TPs working (while I was there I found out that I could never return again because the stupid TPs were made to unclickable and broken IMO - I was so very dissappointed)

also should add markets tax to everyplaces in the Atys' if need to fix economy or something...Dappers Sink

Mektoubs shouldn't be rent, just make the same as in the Mainlands
....not so sure if there is well be a merchant who can sells to us Food

There would have to be some TP NPC though, since only making the TPs work would not prevent you form consuming them without getting new ones :)

Adding a market tax is probably another topic....

And yeah. Make them normal meks. Not just rent. The player decides where to keep them (Silan/Mainland)

Making them "regular meks" won't work because they cannot be trekked to the ML, and the tp won't take them.

I am also firmly of the opinion that "return to Silan" is a freaking BAD idea. If I activate my Silan alt to help someone, I am able to help them as an approximate equal (with extra knowledge) not as some ubermensch. Given the amount of Kiro-camping that happened immediately after the re-start .... really not a good idea.

there are already NPCs standingby at teh TPs (Kami/Karavan on opposite sides of the Crab Island with a moat around it - not much of a Lake if you ask me ...also I think in the main Village also)

if want the Mektoub in the Mainlands then just set the Silan one for Free and buy a new one there instead of need for TP/Trek

also if return to Silan is made possible then no need for any alts

I would be quite fond of the idea of having a packer available in Silan, even if it only held the bulk of a mount. Thinking it would make crafting and digging so much easier, and/or friendlier.

As far as being able to return to Silan, not a fan. Having a 250 anything come over and one shot Kiro would really make it not all that much fun. Even popping nodes would be a killjoy. Although, it would be nice to be able to go back just once to finish up those achievements, but that is purely selfish on my part :)

I am sure it would be possible to lock the use of skills above a certain level on Silan.

I'm happy to see the interest in this idea. I would love to throw my alt (f2p) away because I can go back and/or own a packer. And I would enjoy bringing the last toon on my account to the ML. Keep up the good talks, maybe we'll see our ideas come to life on "the big tree"
