No one said anything about canceling events except you =P
Then I suppose everybody else believes that if something is a good enough suggestion, all the time needed for it will spontaneously emerge from quantum fluctuations and/or unicorns so that it doesn't have to go at the cost of anything else? :P

It should be emphasised that I very much agree with the suggestion of event epilogues. But I do wish some more discussion on how much exactly should be in there.

To understand why, have a look here. That is my write-up of an event last year in which I tried not to leave out anything that happened. As you can see, it's such an enormous wall of text that nobody would even want to read it.

I mean, what is it you want exactly that isn't already in here? More information? More details? You want it to be written by an official rather than a player?

Maybe it is true in some way that the detailed account of what happend should be written by the players, it's a sandbox after all where we write history so maybe we should write the history ourself aswell and you do a great job at that Marelli. But a small accurate write up from the event team would be intresting to know what we just underwent or what just happend

What I'm asking for is:
  • A brief summary of events leading up to the current event, as illustrated nicely in the Matis wedding summary. If this is the first event in the series, a more detailed version of the back-story is required and the example of the Matis wedding summary would not be sufficient.
  • A description of what the team running the event expected to happen, what goals they had for that specific event, and any (non-spoiler) thoughts about the event from the point of view of the events staff. This is basically the "interview with the director" or the "behind the scenes" type of information, and gives the rest of us a peek into your thought processes.
  • A summary of the what happened in the event leading up to each way-point. If the event is static, an accounting similar to that of the Matis wedding is quite sufficient. There is enough detail for all to know what happened. It's very easy to summarize since the event was scripted and unchangeable, even with the "unexpected" arrival of the Bloody Protesters.

A more dynamic event would have a brief summary for each part of the event. Any options presented to the players and what they chose would be mentioned, including the impact their choices made on the flow of the story, especially if it was a "dramatic" choice that actually directed the flow of the story down one of potentially multiple paths. Parts of the event that didn't prove exceptionally noteworthy could be summarized together.
  • A summary of the conclusion to the event, including any teasers for the next event. Player choices should again be mentioned here, and any teasers should reflect how the player choices might set up the circumstances of the next event.

Since I don't know what is planned for the next event following the Matis wedding, I can't say what kind of teaser should have been written in your specific case. However, the fact that there was a possible kidnapping of an important civilization leader should garner more than parts of two sentences, thus I think the conclusion summary may have fallen a little short: who was questioned about possible disappearances, did they act with normal levels of Matis haughtiness or were they more cautious or jittery than normal; what did those two strange Matis in Aeden Aqueous do, where did they come from and where were they going, with whom did they speak, were they actively trying to evade pursuit, etc. Basically, answer questions that players themselves might try to answer if this was part of the actual event itself.

But most importantly, instead of this being in a Wiki (which may also happen and is indeed a good thing), this should be placed in the official forums, in the official discussion thread for the event, to continue the discussion about the event, building up interest for the next event.

I think that a short synopsis of the event would not be to much to ask of events team. But a more detailed report should fall on the shoulders of the community.

+1 to that.

Hmmmmyes, I wil give my +1 to that.

A summary of previous events or backstory would really help situate the event is the larger story of Atys, and would mostly only require a few sentences, plus links to the previous events or relevant lore for those who want more details.

Some "behind the scenes" information, specially on the goals, outcome, and player choices and their effects, would really help to drive home the point that the players had an effect on the world, and would again only require a few sentences.

Seems definitely worth it.

Also, if an official thread is made for every event in this way, it will help invite the players to fill in the rest of the details. If anyone wants to know a detail that the Event Team left out in their synopsis, they can ask in that thread, and hopefully other players will answer it before the Event Team will even have to. :)

Heh, it just so happens that I just ran accross a little background that's probably exactly what you mean, Erizon. The following is from the Matis lore:
The Nerhtenaei-Karan is a secret organization. The representative of Nerhtenaei-Karan will be called "Yene" (mateis for "nobody"). This homin will execute missions of punishment on behalf of the King.

This Yene has been mentioned recently here, and was in this event of almost a year ago. And even though the above was public knowledge all that time, I doubt anybody realised it, so we all just saw her as "random NPC" rather than "head of the Matis assassin's guild". Which kind of means we all totally miss a part of the story that's going on.

I just felt a need to mention that here as it's exactly what you mean by background needing to be summarised and shared, I think? :P

Thank you for the info. I had read the letter before but had missed the news letter by Tyrancha News. Sure wish some homin would rez something like the Tyrancha News.

As a noob, 6 days game time, I do not profess an in-depth knowledge of Atys lore. But I did spend lots of time reading the Wiki and the posts on forum. Is it not the players responsibility to do so?

Perhaps links to past items that pertain to an event could be added to the event so that homins will understand when things, like Fryos protest, happen.

Respect,

Keyif

Well that's an interesting tidbit of information. Without Marelli, it could have gone mostly unnoticed for years.

...Which is why short summaries of past events is a neat idea... *cough* it was perfectly on topic. ^^;
