Hi there,

Seems i'm not the only one having trouble to get this v3 client running. I've spent hours just to get this game running under win xp AND under linux, but it justs fails on me.

I'm not complaining on a daily basis and i have some patience when it comes to the dev-team, i've been playing long enough to know how undermanned they are.

However this "forced" update doesn't work for me at all. I've been reading the post in this forum, trying things out, spending hours of tweaking and downloading and installing... instead of playing. This game is something i play to relax after a hard days work, now it just feels like working....

I still have an old v1 client installed wich i will use till the end of my sub, this ain't ideal, but hey it runs.

There will be some reasons why the dev's wants us all to use the same client, hence the forced upgrade. But please next time don't rush it..., and remember some of us only have limited IT knowledge....

I will be keeping my eyes on the forum and will only be joining this community again when the installing of the client will be error-free and user friendly. (hope this will be soon, very soon)

Meanwhile i'll be playing some other games , but i truly hope to see you all soon on that magnificent rootball we call Atys...

Not sure what problems you have. Probably related to migration of old client to new directory structure?

You can take the Ryzom files, copy them to c:\Games\Ryzom, edit .cfg files and make sure they dont have absolute paths in them, and launch client directly from there as previously.

Ryzom Installer was required to simplify first install and also to get old clients that were released on 2012 back to patching. 1) old clients had patching disabled, 2) old clients were installed into location where user had no write privileges and so ryzom client required admin privileges to run.

Hello!

I'm sorry you have problems :(

Karu is right :) You just can move files from "ryzom_live" to another directory where you can write and launch ryzom_client_r.exe directly :)

I created Ryzom Installer mainly because previous versions of Ryzom were installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Ryzom and if we kept the same location, we would be condemned to launch Ryzom as an Admin (which shouldn't happen for a game...), so where install it ?

Latest Windows 2.1 clients were only available in 32 bits, I thought it was a good idea to propose to players a 64 bits client, but perhaps you'll prefer to keep a 32 bits client :( 2.1 client was not able to patch to another architecture than Windows 32 bits... Ryzom Installer asks what client you want to use and detect automatically if you're running a 64 bits platform.

Ryzom Installer is a tool to help migration and installation, it's optional.
