IDEAS FOR RYZOM

I have another improvement suggestion for the interface: when the info window for an item is open, it would be a lot more convenient if the item was in some way highlighted in the inventory and vendor windows. Occasionally I have a lot of very similar items and this would really help when I actually want to do something different with each one.

Still waiting for the English Uni to be auto-attached to the rest, the interface on a newly started character is very cluttered due to all the stuff dumped in the middle on the screen. Not to mention people end up believing they have to write in that chat in order to talk to Chiang, because they see his tooltip but don't know to right click him.

((sidenote: why couldn't his tooltip actually say Right click me? break immersion on a tutorial?))

Other dynamic channels should be reviewed on a case-by-case basis too, maybe it's useful to have News and a newly added Faction channel pop in your face ... but maybe not?

While we're at it, lots of people end up asking what "Uni" means, in English it could as well be short for "University" which is confusing. The nod to the main "Universe" channel is not immediately obvious. Maybe renaming English Uni to English Chat would be useful?

Lastly, the stable boy should be able to release mektoubs from stables. It's a long-running joke that pressing shift+p to "talk" to your animal is one of the most counter-intuitive ways this functionality was implemented. If the stable boy can offer to feed your animals depending on context (i.e. if they're inside stables or not), then he certainly can offer to get them out to you.

This idea of "I'm offended". Well I've got news for you. I'm offended by a lot of things too. Where do I send my list? Life is offensive. You know what I mean? Just get in touch with your outer adult. (Bill Hicks)

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

I hope this was meant as sarcasm. It is certainly not a question that has anything to do with the UI interface.

If we speak about interface woes, one of most woeful things is inability to switch weapons/equipment via hotkey. It would be logical to equip mag amps when I switch to magic part of bar, and then it could be handy to switch to sword when I'm changed shortcut bar to another one, filled with melee actions. Yet, there is no any way to switch weapon (and preferrably other equipment) via hotkeys, as far as I figured out. This is really strange, granted how convenient action toolbar switching happens.

The argument I've heard in the past is that quick-switching would somehow "aid botting"; never got satisfactory details though.

More likely, there is neither interest in this nor dev power to address. Client-side problems have been ignored for the longest time now.

Having autoswitch depend on the action might have undesirable side effects. Sometimes I *do* want to cast a spell while hanging onto my sword. Also really difficult to sense (without clicking) what "bar" is up. Most of my bars have mixed actions in them. (The exception being my digging bars, and you can already do auto-equip for a pick. (SYSTEM > Game configuration > Interface > HUD.) Unfortunately it auto-equips bare hands for magic or fighting, and if you have mobs on/near your digging spots you can aggro a mob very easily. )

Having a hot-key would be fine as long as the equippage time is still included, but would clearly make it much easier to use alts and, if one is using a key-stroker program, make botting easier. (Such use is illegal. Do not try this at home.)

Agreed. I have been know to cast with my spear or pick in hand on purpose. And when I melee, I don't always go for the same weapon; maybe my spear, maybe my daggers.... the client has no way of knowing my intentions. However, it's rare (not unheard of, merely rare) that I target Gerder and cast Double-Electricity 5 while in dig gear, so auto-equipping because I got the wrong action bar would cause me more problems than it would solve. And trust me, I am pretty good at causing myself problems without the UI guessing wrong about what I'm trying to do.

Do not assume that you speak for all just because you are the loudest voice; there are many who disagree that simply have no desire to waste words on you.

Right, not sure if this has been discussed already, but I'm having terrible problems with comparing two different items. For instance, if I want to replace my boots with another pair I cannot open two windows to compare their stats, neither does the game highlight the ups and downs of the stats from the new boots I want to equip compared to the one I'm already wearing.
This makes trying to find what armour to wear very tedious.

There's a red pin at the upper right of the stats window, if you click and open another stats window, the old rests

Sending a mail to Elweit did remind me of one thing I would like to see implemented in the various chat functions.

How many times have you seen a chat line in Team or a personal tell, or even Uni that looks like this:

Username says:3411111wwww
Username says:Need a rez in xxxx

Currently we have the option that Enter either does or does not exit a chatbox. We have the option to exit a chatbox with the Esc key, but if we hit it again, we end up closing the chatbox. We can enter the chatbox by left-clicking on the data-entry part of the box. We can change from one box to another by the same means. I would like to see us be able to exit any chatbox by left-clicking on the general scene. (In addition to the current methods.)

There -- a completely interface related request.

This is a quote from three years ago that still hasn't been implemented. Today again I almost got myself killed because I forgot to leave the chatbox. I clicked on an enemy and tried to attack, but instead was just typing characters in chat. It's really simple. Clicking inside the chatwindow should activate it, clicking outside the window should deactivate it. Chatting is a low priority activity and should not interfere with gameplay.
