I had thought about that too, instead of going through the long complication of making it possible to return to f2p status after p2p, I do like the idea of the possible option for anyone to pay one-month's fee to just transfer their character to the new merged server, not permitting anything else p2p, thereby not making any account "locked-in" to pay forever

I am extremely happy that a celebrated player has suggested this, therefore I'm less likely to be shot at :)

But in seriousness, the game-makers could have a nice amount of one-time income on this option

Any +1's ?

I want to pay for some of my friends to keep their characters, I'm happy to dip into my wallet to do it

Allow us to do it ?

-1 if you're willing to pay the sub for a month, sub for a month and see where you get from there.... its not alot of money especially for a game as advanced.

This is simply discussing the option to pay for character preservation one time fee, not subscriptions, I won't get into it with you here on that, there's quite a few other posts for that topic

umm, the problem with subbing for a month is that you know where that will get you at this point... a locked character if you stop subbing...

edit: this brings up another concern that might want a topic of its own; it has been asked before, on at least one occasion, by someone other than me, "What will happen to 20 day trial account caracters--that have yet to sub--after the 29th?" One would advise retention of all character data (and server data) reguardless, but a one time transfer fee could suffice for these characters as well.

Celebrated ? The only time I'm celebrated is when i do Atysian bachelorette parties and pop outta the cake wearing Zorai MA (aka Villagee People Indian outfit).

But yes, I can see WG warming up to doing something if they can cover their costs.
