as some of you may or may not have noticed i have been moaning a lot about not being able to log in to ryzom after a recent update to mac 10.8.3. it turns out that i'm not the only one and at least two other people have contacted me since saying they have had the same issue and i seriously doubt we were the only ones.
it turns out that apple's new update and ryzom aren't really friends.. at all.. in fact they hate each other. it took me three days solid to sort out the problem and i'm not really sure i've actually "sorted" it.. i think i have just blagged it really.
anyways,
i have posted the solution that i found in my original "uninstall" post.. which is basically a hybrid of a solution i found elsewhere and some clever tricks from a car named mokoi (thoroughly decent chap).
so if, like me, you updated and are having the same problems i had, take a look and i hope it helps.

if you haven't yet done the apple update to 10.8.3 then i urge you not to bother.. unless of course you enjoy ripping your hair out whilst crying into your keyboard - both of those actions don't work, by the way, i tried.

pass this around to anyone you know that uses a mac and save them from the anguish i suffered!

I have Mac OS X ver 10.8.3 and have had no issues due to updating from ver 10.8.2 to 10.8.3.

I'm using 10.8.5.

I really want to start learning how to play, but I can't even get past the character window.

i think this can probably be unpinned now.
people seem to be having different issues.
i'm intrigued as to how you are staying problem free, rollocks. i haven't bothered updating to mavericks as i didn't fancy losing all my map markers again. also, this thing people are talking about with missing titles, dodgy text and blank bits on their screens, sounds unappealling. 

i'm still using 10.8.5 on an unofficial client and all is working fine. if i update, however, it'll be a different story.
i don't fancy going into the terminal and running manual ryzom updates again.

I'd love to know why not, haha, i know i few other people that did. i can be almost 100% sure i will based on previous updates I've done.
I'd also love to know how to completely eradicate ryzom from my computer so i can redownload it and start afresh with the official client. somewhere on this computer is a bad seed that keeps screwing up the official client and taking me back to the very initial problem stated in this thread.

for now, everything works so sod it :-)

I did not lose my map markers when I updated to mavericks.

I did, but that's OK because I had loads of markers left over from before the merge. Mostly dig sites which have been moved. I can start again now with a clean map.
