May I ask few questions to all.. I hope we will finally be able to guess which players will like Ryom. This question is raised as a response to the following post http://app.ryzom.com/app_forum/index.php?page=topic/view/21937

1. How did you come to know about Ryzom?
2. Have you played any graphics intensive games before?
3. Which OS do you use for Ryzom.
4. F2P or P2P?

1. I searched for free role play ubuntu based games.. tried 3-4 free games and liked Ryzom on its first try.
2. I am a gamer, game addict (not now.. since long time) and have played lots of games which are far graphics rich than Ryzom. [Prince of Persia- The Forgotten Sands, Assassin’s creed 2, brotherhood, Mass Effect....]
3. Ubuntu
4. P2P

1. I read a short article in an IT oriented portal (heise.de) about the Linux client (newly released at that time)
2. I have played Guildwars a bit before, and even less Diablo. Before that, I played LP muds (text based multiplayer roleplay and adventure).
3. OpenSUSE, Aptosid, Windows Vista
4. P2P

1. I have no idea, I've known *about* Ryzom since "The Saga of" was still part of the official name though.
2. Ryzom isn't, IMO, Graphics intensive, so if it counts as such, then yes I must've played some really graphics intensive games, even though I always buy non-gaming machines (mostly laptops) that are 1-3 years out of date.
3. Winblows 7 x64 Ultimate now. Winblows XP Pro (32-bit) previously.
4. Yes. (IOW, both at the moment, but F2P only until recently).

1. Saw an advert for it next to the PvP web comic. (Pretty sure it was a Project Wonderful advert.) Finally got interested enough to try it out during the gap between Nevrax and GameForge (*ptui*). Was stuck on Silan for some time.
2. As Monostone has said, Ryzom really isn't graphics *intensive*, but it is graphically based (2.5D) world. My other games had been Elder Scrolls and the Might and Magic (RPG, not RTS) sequence (and Myst). Ryzom was my first MMO. The only time I have played others was during the Dark Time.
3. Windows XP, then Windoz 7.
4. Paid for as long as payment has been an option. Currently supporting two accounts for no other reason than to support the game.

1. How did you come to know about Ryzom?

A friend of mine found it in a Linux repository long ago and tried to drag me in. It took a while for him to convince me, but I finally gave it a try a couple of years ago and got hooked.

2. Have you played any graphics intensives games before?

Too many to list. I think Skyrim and Deus Ex:Human Revolution count as "graphically intensive" in ways that Ryzom doesn't even come close to.

3. Which OS you use for Ryzom.

Mostly Win7 Home Premium, occasionaly Zorin.

4. F2P or P2P?

One of each :D

My PS3 died and I needed something to play and found Ryzom purely by luck on the Mac app store...

I first heard about Ryzom a few years ago on a Linux website, they said that it was a good MMORPG, specifically, it was NOT world of whorecraft. I played it a while and then I physically broke my computer (killed the CPU) and I forgotm about it. About a year ago, I had gotten a new computer, A bunch of spare time, so I started playing it again.

Yes, indeed, I play heavy-graphics games. But my new computer, although a year old, can handle it. High-end graphics card, 12 GB of memory, and an 8-core processor.

Of course, I use Linux. Specifically Debian testing distribution.

I pay to play Ryzom. It is one of my four bills every month.

1) Someone mentioned Ryzom on my diaspora* feed
2) I like playing games but usually do 2d stuff. I found DDO and another fantasy RP game to be a lot of juveniles w/too much time. I love that Ryzom's NOT massively marketed.
3) Currently on Windows Vista. Blame my husband.
4) Just started this week, so still f2p but considering a sub if I'm still playing after a month or so.
