IDEAS FOR RYZOM

When wondering why I always can carry less than my alts I discovered (ok maybe not a secret to most of you) that any stack of teleportation pacts has a bulk value of 1.

While this does not sound a big deal, it is summing up and considerably limiting the bulk of 300 in total. For me, as a neutral character, it means that I have in sum 42 stacks of tickets, all I can get to the best of my knowledge. Thus, 14% of my bulk baggage is gone, besides armor, jewelry, weaponry, and tools which are eating up enough.

In other words, in order to keep my mobilitiy I have to sacrifice the payload of roughly 84 foraged or looted items. I consider that a lot, and in fact, too much. IMHO there is no ingame justification (only programming history) for the fact that a teleportation pact eats up bulk space while occupations' documents do not. Beneath that, the bulk useup punishes the daring and exploring adventurer who strives to obtain as many kinds of tickets as possible.

I would like the bulk consumption of teleportation pacts to be removed

Well I find the bulk to be reasonable. Personally I carry very few TPs around when I am digging. Just the ones I feel would be necessary. If I need to go anywhere else I go pick up that teleport and continue digging. Even when hunting or exploring I don't carry all my teleports with me. I stick the ones I use never or very little into a packer for easy access if needed. Usually these areas are never needed or have alternate routes to get to. Plus, can always get it if needed.

I've always seen the teleport pacts as something more than just a document. Its quite a hefty map that allows you to get someplace faster. Its something you have to accomodate for and isn't just a free joyride. I lost my train of thought and forgot what else I was planning on saying, so I shall end there.

Tickets had no bulk at launch. It was added to be more realistic. Why do you need to carry a full stack of tkts? I find 2 of each except places like my home city is more then enough. I also keep several backups of each in my apt.-Kil

I neither need nor do I carry a full stack of any kind of tickets, not only that it would cost 99.9 million dappers per stack, it would be useless. I, too, hold backups in my apt. Only, this makes no difference except that the backup ticket is eating up 1 bulk space in the appartment or on the packer, additionally.

I fail to see the realism in my roughly 130 tickets (3 tickets per direction on average) consuming 42 bulk while 999 tickets of the same kind would consume 1. And I fail to see the ingame rationality of discourageing mobility and flexibility.

After all, tp ticket is a pact with the superior forces no less than the resurrection pact, or Jena's kiss/Marduk's breath. It is something spiritual rather than material.

Tickets are not 1 bulk per stack, they are 0.2 bulk per ticket.

correct. Try buying a thousand of each ticket and you soon run out of bagspace (in about 2000 tickets in fact, depending on what else you're carrying) :)

I carry 126 tickets on me at all times (sometimes a few extra for KL). Guild Officer guidleines "suggest" that officers always have at least one of every ticket in their bag to handle meergenct rez episodes. I have made too many mistakes not buying one on landing, ya would think because rushing off to save peeps before timer runs out, but I also forget a lot so I always carry three to save on shoe leather.

This eats about 25 bulk leaving me 50 mats short of my bag max. Adding in necesssary items (LA, Jools, Amp, Pick, Craft Tool, few Dex Flowers, cats for crafting, @ hawker, etc), I walk around with room for about 300 mats.

But, unless in PR, I always have a packer handy, which boostmy mats capacity to about 1,300 which is above my nighly target of about 1,250 mats. So having the tickets, dropping me from 1,350 capacity to 1,300 really doens't have a significant impact (reduction of 3.7%) on everyday digging.

If the response is "well that don't help the F2P folks", my thinking is that was intendional.

and not just that, they don't need the volume of mats for levelling their craft that higher level players do :)

Same with me, and even bit more.

Thanks to all responding, and I realized in the meantime that the bulk is per ticket, not per stack, I apologize for the misconception. Indeed, testing showed me deceiving figures: everytime I added or subtracted one of my 3-5ticket stacks, bulk rose or dropped by an integer, everytime i added or subtracted a ticket, nothing happened. Thanks for the clarification. By stripping my ticket stacks, especially those to Almati which were indeed overloaded (most times I take the temple porters) I managed to reduce ticket bulk to 25 approx.

Anyway, I still feel that this is not sensible. There may be the idea behind to restrict the faction hoppers collecting all tickets and storing them while changing religion or becoming neutral afterwards. But that's a half-assed measure (if you forgive the expression) as clearly nobody may store the maximum of tickets yet still enough to be able to move unrestrictedly for a good deal of time.

If the idea was to restrict that kind of behaviour (it doesn't trouble me, because I would never act that way as strict neutrality, not opportunism, is in the core of my roleplay), why not limiting the number of tickets of one direction on a per character basis to say, 9, 15, 20? I had not a too close look into the sources, and my knowledge of Lua stems from the NeL documentation and subsequent googling, but I failed to see that such restriction would have been too hard to implement. Instead, after nearly 7 years, usage of Karavan tickets by Kami and vice versa was eventually blocked (rightly).

For any other purpose, bulk of tickets makes no sense, IMHO.
If the response is "well that don't help the F2P folks", my thinking is that was intendional.

I don't think that it has to do anything with f2p which was implemented years later. I have two payed accounts and don't care much about. Hopefully it will bring some more players, anyway.

Cheers, daomei

To some extent. If you become neutral, you may use Kami as well as Karavan pacts, to the best of my knowledge. Thus, Faction Opportunism has not been stopped so far.

In the early days teleport pacts used to have a bulk of 1 and weren't stackable, but that was a time where all level 50 region teleports were available to everyone. So stackable 0.2 bulk teleport pacts are a big improvement.

In my opinion it isn't necessary to remove the bulk from the pacts. Everyone can choose to carry less tickets for more room in the bag.

As Amne said, storing other religion to TP's and switching back and forth between religions is useless cause ya can't use a TP ticket unless you are aligned to that faction.

And yes, the F2P is a valid thing because if ya have a packer (or 3) w/ 300 bulk each following you, you not gonna care about 25 bulk of TP tickets. ONLY F2P folks have such limited storage, since they can't get packers, so if anyone is gonna have an issue with the 25 bulk, that's the group it wiull hit the hardest.

I can still be a neutral with 50 kami fame, align kami for a day to buy 1000s of GoC, SC and Loria pacts, then go back to neutral and still use those pacts for a long time to come.

Or I could if pacts didn't have bulk.

#15 [en]

Can't ya get those TP's anyway as a neutral just by having 33 fame w/ each faction.
