Allow cross-dressing - IDEAS FOR RYZOM

I think it would be really nice to allow players to choose between the two styles of clothing, hair, and tattoos currently hard-locked to characters of one specific gender. Like if it was possible to mix and match parts in both styles to choose what we like the most individually. Seems like it wouldn't be too terribly hard to do and it would mean I'd have access to medium armor that's actually armor instead of underwear. Plus it would mean more character variation.

Moniq, if I read it correctly, what Key wants is the ability for a male character to use the female clothes/hair/tattoos, and vice-versa. Which I support for roleplay purposes, but I am not sure how easy it would be to implement.

Ah, my bad. That would not be easy because those clothes will not fit the opposite gender model. And if we have any resources to work on such tasks, I would prefer to fix whats already missing or broken (like gnoof saddle). But might be interesting.

If you had ask for example a Matis wearing Fyros or Matis hairstyle/tatoos... I would say why not. But.... Genders !?

May i ask what you have in mind with that?

Pretty sure I already explained, Mithian. The women's style medium "armor" isn't armor, it's a choice between a bathing suit and a dominatrix outfit.

Side note, you know transgender people exist, right? Like me; I'm transgender. We're not exactly a secret at this point. And allowing cross-dressing would also make it easier to design an avatar that's supposed to be openly transgender if someone wanted to go that route. Or cross-dressing support could allow someone to mix styles and come up with something gender-ambiguous.

Actually, I played a lot of MMO in my life and never really noticed that on MMO, you could choose to be transgender. I have ofc nothing against that (For personnal stuff I don't feel like i have to say on a forum, i understand how is it to be different ;) but, from my point of view, it have nothing to do there. Ryzom is a fantasy game, not IRL and... Ngl, i'm really pissed of by people that want to introduce RL stuff on a virtual fantasy World.

Now that i gave my feeling about it, i won't answer anymore on this topic ( Too much bad experiences with SJW.... *grins* )

I'm sure there is no objection for female avatar to wear male looking armor, but the issue it that there is no female models for male looking armor.

There is probably also issues with using male armor textures on female armor models. For minimum, someone would need to go over all the armors and verify uv maps. This is not easy or quick.

Valid points. I don't know the technicals of how to implement this, not being all that familiar with 3-D modeling (let alone how Ryzom specifically does it).
