Yeah, again weather in roots, had to find something to do so i decided to write here about something i thought about sometimes during the last years. Beta players have their own title, but what about those who couldn't get a key and had to start after the beta ? ^^ I'm one of them, and would have love to get also a title for my old age in here. :D Anybody else ?

Good luck with that.

Haha, well not so important. Only some thought i had. =)
I'm not so sure anymore, but i think i saw something like this be implemented after a few years in lotro (?) and found it nice, as i was myself a beta player there, but was nice to see the "old" non beta players be rewarded with a title.

I wouldn't have a problem with titles based on length of time played; wouldn't have thought it was too difficult to implement either.

What sort of titles were you thinking of?

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

"Old Fart" ???

How about "Octogenarian Player"
(possible bad spelling)
Of course you need to be at least Eighty years old.

Honestly, i have no idea about a title for "old socks", Neela. =)
Was just a thought i had these years.
And no, "old fart" doesn't sound right i think. ;-)
As far as i remember the system in this other game, they had some reward including title + pack of items each couple of years (yeah i'm 99% sure it was in lotro) which was a nice addition to the game (i didn't use that gear for my part, was too crappy :D ). I don't care about the extra gear, but something like "first wave"-like titles would be nice i guess ? Hhhmm difficult... The theme should match RP and the world, maybe something like first wave survivor in the meaning ? After all, we dropped sweat and blood to defend our cities when the kitins attacked :D Yeah, i know we already have the Kitin titles (have some too) but something more neutral, related to the age of the chars would still be nice. But it seems not a lot people are interested in it, as most of us "old" players are no more here.

+1 I like this Idea. I have only played 6 1/2 yrs so far, not nearly as long as a number of you, but the time is acumulating! When i started playing in 2010 beta players were where I am now, so those who are committed players should get a reward.

I am thinking maybe it can be based on our 'Achievements.' There is an entry under "General>This game doesn't play itself", Where our total hours are recorded. Perhaps a title can be based on that. Our Total game play.

(In fact, this makes my mind wander a bit,... maybe we can get some of those titles under all the achievements....? That would be fun)

Thank u for swimming with me against the stream, Naema :D
This would be an idea, this thing with the achievements, but i guess it's not usable as it doesn't "count" from the very beginning sadfully, so the days indicated are not matching the reality, neither most of the things in there. In fact when i look at it, i notice that most of the achievements have the same date, back in June 2013 where if i'm not mistaken, i already made my break (i left before they did the reset + merge). But yes, i think a "flexible" title based on the creation date of the char would be nice, rewarding people for still being there. =)

This doesn't hurt me and can make other people happy, sure why not.

Also many other games give various things for time played/subscribed.

A title is so non-material it's easy. It's not like other games where they give you a free limited edition mount that flies and breathes fire and seats two people :P

Yes.

I like something along the lines of "First Wave survivor"; how about an animation where your toon does a back flip for each year you've been here? Then staggers about dizzy if it's a lot!

How about a "Founder" title.

Limit it to a certain number of years from the start of the game.

Title 'Old sock'?

#14 [en]

Although; I think that titles should be for something you have actually *done* in the game, some sort of achievement. Just having played and actually accomplishing nothing is kind of lame/useless/nothing.

All the other titles involve earning them for some reason.

Thus, the "old socks" thing is.... a NOTHING title. But, if you have played the game for a long time, you very probably have a bunch of titles to choose from.

Hell, I have been playing for about three years, and I am "Blessed By Mom Duck (QUACK)", "Atys Citizen", "Advanced Desert Forager", "Elementalist", and *many* others. And these are titles I have *earned*

... just saying.....

Some places do give you a title of "Honorific member" or something in that vein, if you've been there for quite a while.

Personally I would think of something that depends on actual played time, but even that would reward people sitting at stables for hours..

.. in any case, giving people a title hurts no one and it makes them smile, so :)
