1 - Music

1.1 Music project for Ryzom

Few weeks ago I was talking with Gorias about some stuff for my work in the Lore Team related to the Marauders. And we noticed that both share a common idea.
We both think we lack music in Atys. The music each race plays in their festivities, to have fun or to relax. Music is the most important thing in any culture, and the cultures of Ryzom must have music too!!
So after few days of talking, we decided to start a project inside the Lore Team to write the "musical lore". It will take long. We are focused in writing the Theory of Sound by now. How the sound moves around Atys. How the environment affects to the sound. How each race understand those sounds and how later they start to create sounds with basic instruments and how those instruments evolved.
In short, by now is just a Lore Team work. But of course, Gorias and I share the same dream. Someday, this Lore come true in the game. Maybe players playing to some instruments? Maybe new NPC with new missions related to the sound? I was talking with Tamarea and a Music Team, and of course a Music Group in RF could be great so we can start having ideas and sharing them to move towards that dream.
I am a musician myself and I can´t wait to start creating some songs. But, as I told, by now this is just a Lore work by now. I don´t want to make no one sad, but we want to make sure we create a good Musical Lore to be sure which kind of materials and instruments can be used to make music, or to understand what kind of music a Zoraï could like.

Q: There are some music instruments in the concept arts!
A: That´s true YannK. But we are rechecking all that. Those instruments are just an idea. There is nothing inside the Lore about them.

Q: Right now i play Ryzom with my sound turned off because if it is on I crash all the time when entering and exiting guild hall or cities. Is there a way to fix this first? Otherwise i cannot play with sound turned on.
A: that´s true, but I just came to tell you all we have a project inside the Lore Team about the music of Atys. Once this is finished, I think we should start to see how we could implement or not the musical lore in Ryzom, or if it is possible.

Q: But it is primarily about the definition of scores of individual nations or?
A: No. That will be the last part. We are working in the physicis of the music by now. How the sound moves in the different enviroments, how that sounds affect the enviroment. How the sound affect the races and their culture. Once we have this "Theory of Sound" finished, we will start to make each race work. The instruments for example. And with the time, why not, make scores of songs for each race or faction.
I understand that waiting for the Lore is finished is frustrating when we already could have tones of ideas, I have a lot for example, but we must make this step by step to avoid problems in the future. I hope the ones who share the same dream as Gorias and I have are happy to know this project is already started. And I hope we can join in the future to make a great work. I just want to ask you to be patient.

Q: there has been some ideas in the forums about including instruments in the game that players can play.
A: The musical lore doesn´t exist and Gorias and I are working on it. We started few weeks ago and we think is better to have that Lore finished before we start making the work to implement in game.

3 - Level design group

3.1 A new Level Designer in the team

Welcome to Lycimima, new level designer under NDA ! He will also help with Infographics and make so some projects don't stay on paper.

Q: did you play Ryzom a lot?
A: Yes i know quite well the game.

3.2 Creation of a Ryzom Forge Level Design group in Asana

The group is created since two weeks on this tool for managing teams, and two LD members of RF joined it. We are waiting for the other ones!
Contact Tamarea at to give her your email, you will receive an invitation to join the group.

Q: Only 15 members can join? 
A: In the free version, yes. If we have one day more than 15 RF members (without counting those under NDA), we will have to be clever by sharing tasks between different groups.

Q: Can pictures and graphics be posted on Asana?
R: Yes. We can creat tasks, second level tasks, following a task, assign it, put a deadline, join a file, a tag, etc.

3.3 Mission workflow

It is in French for the moment but translation team is working on it, So it will be available also in other languages.

Q: Does a mission has to be created in a certain language at the beginning, so before translation team works on it?
A: No because we are much more productive in our native language. DE, EN, ES, FR, no matter. Internally we work also like that and it's going very well.

3.4 Study and validation of the missions ideas

It is less convenient than Asana but usefull while waiting for all volunteers to get access.
Its content is copied within Asana, and each week Lore and LD teams gather to study and validate (or not!) proposed ideas. A feedback is then done to creators.
Once creators on Asana, all the implied teams can follow the work in progress, advice, validate, help by creating missing item, etc...
Members of RF already in Asana group have already started to add directly their new ideas and detailed their valid ideas.

4- Infographics group

4.1 Creation of a Ryzom Forge Infographics group in Asana

The Infographics group needs to be better structured, so  RF Infographics group will be created in Asana. 
Asana groups are free (as with no charge) untill 15 people in a group, but it will be enough for our actual needs. Nevertheless this group will be reserved to the Infographics team, because of this restriction.
To ask for an access, send an email to, who will invite you.  You can also provide your email on IRC or by IG mail.

The advange is that the Ryzom teams under NDA already use it, and it is possible to share a task between groups. So it's possible to follow a task with more than 15 people.
It will be able to better coordonate Infographics, Level Design, Dev, Event...  groups.
Asana sends emails notifications in case of adding or modifying a task (except if you prefer to desactivate the feature).
It is not necessary to create an account before, an invitation is possible with an Asana account or with an email.

Q: Is it 15 members per group? Or is it 15 members for all the groups combined?
A: 15 for each group.

Q: Can I join Asana despite my "linguistic disadvantages"? (I speak only German)
A: Yes of course! Internally I work with DE volunteers that speak only DE and I don't! We also have some FR that do not speak EN. Everybody succeed in working together, sometimes with google translation, often with the help of the others for translations. Each one is important and has got many interesting ideas, the language is not a problem. We are a multilanguage team.

Q: Is there a description of possible usage of those banners?
A: Each town will have its banner floating in the wind, but you are free to propose other usages.

Q: About city banners, just to situate, where does come the initial will to create them please?
A: It comes from the will of Event Team to improve roleplay of cities by providing them their own identity. Having their own banner will help for it.

Q: i have ideas for a banner in Davae too, but cannot make it since i do not know which program to use, I might just hand paint it? I have a Mac.
A Lycimima: Yes you can draw it on paper and scan your idea and I will see what can I do with it.
I don't have a Mac so no idea wich program you can use. 
I think we should post the texture modele so everyone will have the right size for the texture.

Q: The textures and sizes of existing banners are readily available to us. Only if there are new objects, we need to know these variables.
A: Not everyone know where to look on the datas or maybe i have miss it on the forum?

Lycimima : For the usage, we can also replace banners of zorai and tryker cities by the new ones, in addition to the one on support. And more, seeing that use same materials for all countries because we cannot do better, I propose to redo version fitted to each country in addition to the banner itself. In a way to be completly free on the aspect too.

Q:  I didnt' understand, you talk about supports?
A: Yes, about the wooden part that hold the banner, instead of just making a texture using a generic existing model.

Q : How to mabe a new object spawn on Yubo server?
R: If someone would need to see how his banner looks in game and does not know how to do, he can send an email to with the infos attached, he'll do screens on Yubo.
Lycimima will write a little tutorial explaining how to test banners (and other projects later) on Yubo, how to make appear an object, give it the shape of another, etc.

Q : Is there an ark group on Asana? Or a Dev one? I think that it could be useful.
R : Each team under NDA has got its own group on Asana. But there is no RF ark neither dev group there for the moment.

4.3 Creation a female tryker leader armour

Ideas have been proposed here :
For the 3D model, beeing more complicated than a static item,weI'll have to make some tests if we'd like to change it (but light changes should be possible).

Q: We'd need to have an image of the current male armour to take inspiration of it.
R: Yes, posting images of male amor is a good idea.

Lycimima: As I try to rebirth projects that lacks of graphists or still blocked at modelisation step, I bent on Jen Laï stele.I did the corresponding .shape, i've just changed some details to write inscription and make textures in version winter/summer:

I've got other small objects in progress to accompagny rites/missions, but I keep the surprise!
