[Tr] Upload texts on Duolingo.com for translation? - Translation - Ryzom Community ForumHomeGuest

Duolingo is a completely free language learning platform, for German, English, French and many more (they currently creating a Klingon course ^^)

There is an area on their page where users can upload own texts and let them be translated and proof read by other.
I used their system and it's comfortable as well, and it's possible for multiple translators to work on the same document at the same time.

And furthermore it's free advertising, because the users on duolingo learn about Ryzom. ;)

Adaptation from "I have a dream" by "Martin Luther King"
I have a dream that one day this world will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all homin are created equal." I have a dream that one day on the hills of Fairhaven the sons of former homins left behind and the sons of former homins that were lucky enough to be rescued will be able to sit down together at a campfire of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the Matis, a state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my 64 little guildies will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin or the religion they follow but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.

Yes Klingon, not on the root ball of course, it's a language of another universe ;)

And a direkt link to Duolingo translation area, only works while you are logged in on their web page!

I was wondering why nobody seemed to be intrested in here.

And I found out there is already the testing of an other translation website pending.

So I took a look at Zanata:
1. Google login is broken/outdated
2. created a normal account, confirmation email arrived very fast (wiki info outdated)
3. I tried to translate, but I am not able to save any changes, because the documents for translation are locked, It took me ages to notice the mouse over info on the little lock in upper left corner, without receiving any error message while trying to save changes :(

So far:
I am using Duolingo for a year now, it is a completely different kind of platform and it is from it’s concept not an alternative to Zanata.
They are more supplemental to each other.

Zanata: Seems to be ok, for translation of documents that contain programming code. Translated by members of Ryzom translation team, as it already is.

Duolingo: For giving our texts (much smaller, well written, no code) to others/ language learners, and let them translate the texts for us.
This is completely free for all creative commons texts.
And the language learners learn about Ryzom, so it’s free advertising as well. :)

Duolingo is a platform for language learners. Our texts would have to be cleaned of references (or inferences lol) to the world of Ryzom; they make sense to us, but to a stranger it would be awful to attempt to decypher meaning. And I'm saying it as a person who has used Duolingo in the past..
