I do in no way criticize that the Watchers' camps in the four countries are gone. It would be bizarre if they were still in place while not only the cities have been devastated, but all apartments, guildhalls, and even the temples of the mighty Kami and Karavan as well as the settlement and the Zinuakeen of the Marauders have been wiped out. Yet I mourn the camps, more than much of the aforementioned, and like to tell a few impressions and recollections of the past.

The camps were erected in spring 2547, in the course of a campaign against the Kitins in all 4 nations, and have been provided with supplies since by the mission "touring the camps". It was around 2553, few cycles after I had left the refugee camp at Silan, when a friend, Rasaya di Carlo, showed me how to do this exciting series of missions in the desert. My highest level at this time was 80 in desert digging, so I owe her a lot in teaching me how to observe the aggressive creatures and to sneak through their rows, where I might die from a single blow. I well remember the pride when receiving the final message "Thank you, Daomei, that was a job well done" in the Scorched Corridor.

During these missions I found the entry to Windy Gate soon, and immediately fell in love with the glowing lands below the bark, their treasures and their challenges as well as their unique beauty. Prime roots digging became the second digging spell I mastered. Later I explored the mission to the camps in the other nations. Finding a relatively safe method to master the way to graveyard walk as well as to waterfall of the three totems took a while. Afterwards I was able to run the tour in all four nations. I especially loved the nation picks one could obtain, the Zorai electric one the most beautiful of them.

For a couple of months I offered guidance for younger players (and other interested) on a regular base, twice a week, Desert/Zorai and Lakelands/Matis in turn. I much enjoyed the challenge of coordination of Karavan and Kami aligned and neutrals, sometimes trecking for teleporters as well.

I heard that the camps will not be erected anymore. Though there may be good reasons for, I can't but say that it makes me sad. A fine institution of Old Atys gone forever. It will not be forgotten.
