Harv and Jaim are not a rollback. They are just reestablished toons. Of course that should be done. What this user wants is for all changes (including inventory changes) to be rolled back.

lol ill convince u in a tell :P

Hello,

The whole Ryzom team was deeply touched by your general mobilization. We have read your many posts throughout the weekend.

Please remember that whatever your discontent every individual deserves respect. Slurs and other inappropriate comments are not acceptable.

We met this morning to consider the issue and take into account your remarks.

We still need time to find a viable solution and we will get back to you with a news as complete as possible in the coming days. Until then, the events for these next 2 weeks are continuing as planned.

Thankyou for the response Yumeroh

Always argue with an idiot... it's the only way they can get Experience! :)

Greetings, everyone.

The email announcement about this was surprising, especially considering I haven't been following developments in this game for some time now.

WinchGate, if you wanted to shut the game down due to finances, I'm sure many would have understood. After all, almost all of us understand what it's like to go through hard times, and anyone who has played knows that Ryzom isn't exactly the most popular game on the Internet. Long-term players would have been sad, but you could have had a final send-off event to rival anything that ever happened thus far in the game.

Elias Tryton could have reactivated the rainbow network, appeared to the players, and revealed Jena for who she really is (and isn't), as well as revealing the relationship between the Karavan and the Homins and why Homins were brought there in the first place. There could even have been a real "dragon", retconned into the story as seismic instability from the initial terraforming experiment, erupting from the bowels of Atys and enveloping the whole planet before exploding in a brilliant light. As the light faded away, a lush, new, green planet could have been revealed, leaving the future open for another game.

Instead, you'll probably anger enough of the long-term (paying) customers so that they don't come back and have to end up shutting down anyway. Instead of a grand send-off, it is entirely possible that you fizzle into nothing. Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe you'll manage to squeak by. For the sake of those who love this game, I hope that's the case.

I have thought a lot about this and I don't know what the reasoning behind not moving the character skills over is. But maybe offer a character preservation package for purchase. If you want to retain your character skill levels, knowlege, fame ect you can purchase a preservation package. This would be a way to get a injection of cash to help the game and leave the vets with the option of keeping their character or not. I would pay, and most likely would pay x 6 accounts as well. I can understand a complete item wipe if that is necessary to make necessary changes and clean out things that are being removed from the game (like cats) and changing dapper system although I don't like that idea in the least, I could swallow it if I could keep my character skills and knowlege in tact. Just a thought.....;.

I guess they need to look at all possible options. But, I don't think that's a truely viable solution either. There are probably some that would be willing to pay for a full character transfer, but I'm sure there are others that would take offense to the idea of having to pay to keep their characters. They probably feel they have already paid for them and maybe can't afford to pay again. I'm one of them. There are those that currently are F2P players that play that way because they can't afford the subscription. A lot of people are feeling the strains of a tight economy. Some of them have put a lot of effort into their characters too.

well, just offering up ideas to help the game while still preserving levels.

Personally i prefer a full wipe to a "partial" wipe. If we cant keep everything lets just start from scratch. There are many players who have invested most of their time in acquiring stuff rather than leveling and would be unfair to them to wipe items only.

yup finally came to grips with full wipe idea (took me some days), it might be fun actually building something new. All 3 servers joining are quite different so all starting out equal might bring is closer.

Source of revenue from the most probable to the most hypothetical:
- Subscription
- Pay to win (P2W) model for subscribers
- Shop items/microtransaction for "almost compulsory" items: non killable mount, housing etc...
- Shop items/microtransactions for cosmetic items (make up, furniture, armours and weapons decorations): this brings a small but constant revenue
- Shop to win model with P2W for the buyers
- Adverts and/or alliance to advert another game
- Guild registration fee / Guild rental fee
- Extra voluntary subscriptions
- Find an editor/a financing angel
- Possibility for the players to participate to the capital of Winch Gate Property Limited (capital increase ?)
- Bank robbery/Scam (count me out)

Hello guys,

I don't like the idea of the full wipe. Everything gone, end of game. A new game will start... I thought about it, but I don't want to start a new game. I'm not one of the players who have played for years. I played "just" for 8 months so far, but I like my current progress, even if I am still far from having mastered anything. I want to go on where I am now and not being thrown back to the beginning and starting from scratch again.

And btw., playing alongside veteran players has never been a problem for me.

So after thinking well about it, it's pretty clear for me: if my toon gets deleted (with skills and everything), that's the end of my game.

It would be ok for me to have dappers reset to zero and apartment as well as mektoubs cleared. No problem at all...

So I keep on playing for now and will see what happens then. If they really do the wipe, I'll go, too. So just in case: bye folks, it was a great time with you. They can wipe toons, but not memories :)

Bye,
Cal

I consider myself a veteran, although I started at christmas -06. I don't like the thought of having my main character eradicated. I put much time and effort during the years, except this and perhaps last year. RL has made it harder to play, and I lost some interest as well, but it doesn't mean I won't sit and be quiet about this. Merge servers? Sure. Wipe characters? No, thanks. (well, I only care about my main, and perhaps my other "main" on my other account) I think I have like 6-7 alts in total on 2 accounts. Most being lowlevels (except 2-3) My main got 10+ masters, and even if it was fun getting them, I won't do it again. I don't care so much about the dappers and stuff, they can be regained later.
If the wipe is executed, then I probably won't bother too much with the game, but I will at least make one f2p account to check it out. (It was my first mmo, so got some affection to it)

Been thinking about the skill whipe over and over. i think without the wipe there might be a very hostile and unreal start after the merge. Competition for mats will be off the chart, with so many coming in with nothing but refugee gear.

Ya, a wipe will be awesome for that since itll just be you and like 3 other people on the server. :) Course thats after you level your digging again.
