#1 Report | Quote[en]

I have an issue with my pointer disappearing. When I first start, the custom Ryzom pointer is there for the character selection, but disappears during loading. It didn't used to do that. It remains functional, but invisible so long as I am in-game, making the UI nearly impossible to use, even to quit. As soon as I alt-tab or quit, the pointer reappears, but it never remains visible in-game.

This issue is across both clients. I have two entirely separate folders; one for each client. If one of the files went bad, I would think that the other client would still work fine.

I have tried re-logging, resetting to defaults, and installing a fresh client, yet the issue remains.

No system changes have been made since it last worked properly. Same video card, same drivers, same mouse, no OS patches.

And since I know I'll be asked:
- Win7 (64-bit)
- GTX465

Any help would be appreciated.

If there is a fault in the save files, these are the same for all clients on the same computer, at least in the ordner. So maybe there is a fault in these files.

Even those in separate folders? When I say "separate clients", I'm not talking just multiple copies of the client_ryzom_rd.exe, but totally separate installs, including a third, "virgin" install with no save files in the directory at all.

press shift+f9 to toggle software cursor to see if that fixes it.

Hello!

Sorry Gid,
i'm not sure if what you've done makes two separate folders. I'm better at mac, than windows. Wish i could help you, sry.

That makes it reappear, but disables my mouse. I can either see the pointer or move it, but not both.

Gidget -- is it possible that your right mouse button is stuck? I notice that if I click my right mouse button the cursor disappears. (I use mouse movement so it happens to me all the time.)

I can right-click just fine, so long as I don't care where I click. Outside of Ryzom, everything is fine.

I had this problem too. Just after using a new macro. The cursor was a little strip of pixel nearly invisible and I was very hard to click anything.
I had to quit the game, relog and everything was OK

I'm using linux (xubuntu) with open-source driver for my ATI Radeon HD 4770

Well, I created a new Windows profile for use with Ryzom, and that works fine. Apparently there is something about my regular Windows profile that went off the rails and messed up how my client operates... but did not mess up the client itself or any of the save/config files.

However, having to log out and then into a separate profile is a hassle, and migrating to the profile I use for Ryzom into my regular account would be non-trivial and risky, therefore undesirable unless/until my entire system degrades to the point of requiring total replacement.

So, while I can now play, I would like to be able to do so without a highly inconvenient kludge, and without basically rebuilding my hard drive and hoping everything works afterwards.

Open ryzom's client.cfg while game is not running and either modify or add lines
HardwareCursors = {
};
That essentially disables fancy cursor and shows basic arrow only.

Well, that did it. Not sure how that changed on both clients though, but it's working now. Thanks!
