About how long does it take to gather enough mats for 108 products?

108 mats of one thing would be 4.5 practices w/ a 100% recipe. So over 9 days (9 x 20 hours if ya don't mind setting the alarm clock), you could make 2 batches.

To *gather* enough mats it depends on the Occupation and if you're solo or not but solo I can gather enough materials for 7 attempts in about an hour. So, three hours a week to supply 3 seperate occupations.

I think I have the basics ironed out and tested now. My full article on this is available at:

This article answers many of the questions asked here. I hope it helps. Please view the rest of the site for other tips on Occupations as well as other aspects of Homin life on Atys.

I'm quite happy with the effort one puts into Basic Occupations. What I find tho is I'd rarther have the mats themselves. As for Catalust Artificer tho, at the end of your 3 hours, with 3 occs, you'r still short of making any cats. And the 7 attempts are 20 hours apart. If ya wanna get up and get to the 8 slot making, you're gonna have ahard time soloing Butcher, Larvester or Scrollamker, in an hour....

I understand the argument about different paths and all but it comes down to this ..... If you are working 2H axe and hitting Mob A gets ya 3000 XP and MoB B gets ya 1500 XP, the with same investment in T & E, how many peeps are gonna be hitting Mob B ? I haven't met one yet. Do we build our spells for the most efficient damage / cost ratio or try different things for fun ?

mob b doesn't hurt you as much and you can use circular attack on them and get 10k xp vs 3k... and not need to heal as much. :p

No Jet, perhaps I wasn't clear. You will note that when grinding skills players go up the same Mob ladder almost without varying. At a certain point, peeps hit jabs in Void, then the move to kinch, then to super herbies. This is true because each mob has specific characteristics and the player base has learned that some mobs give good xp and some don't. Kipees for example give a 2x XP bonus. In addition, each mob has certain resistances and if the Mob you are after has no resistance to slash (so you are using an axe), Mob B may just have that resistance.

As for A and B and circular attack....you've misinterpreted. That is if you are leveling on jabs, you will often be hitting 2 or 3 jabs at a time .... that's an identical mob .... not Mob A and Mob B, that's 2 or 3 Mob A's..... and each one of them will, in fact, hurt you just as much. Hitting jabs and gubani at the same time would be a Mob A and Mob B and that just doesn't generally happen ..... at least on purpose.

And don't forget that many groups of mobs are made up of different varieties of the same basic species.

For example the arma and gubani herds around the Void Kami tp have 3 different varieties each in them. If your circular attack kills one of each they'd of course yield different exp.
Just because something looks the same on Atys, doesn't mean it necessarilly is (though if you look closely you'll often see a difference in size).

Other example would be ferocious and voracious shalahs. Though there's not many people using circular attack on those :)

The ferocious ones have a visual effect to their AoE special attack that the Voracious ones do not have... Utasha has it. I guess it's just a display bug.

If you're not using circular attack on the super-herbies, you're not living.

Depends.....the fact that you need 8 trades, and can only have 3 active at one time with 2 days in between, you're talking 1 day pursuing 3 trades - 2days off - 1day pursuing 3 trades - 2 days off - 1 day pursuing 2 trades. That's a week.

Time spent on trades varies. I havent done any since finishing all around Xmas but I would say medic and toolmaker (harvest / craft) is the fastest. Personally, I don't utilize alts as, for me anyway, it feels "unethical" but that's an individual choice. The qualifier is nevessary haowever as if ya have two alts, then those periods above get shorter.

Once I finish mastering MA (230->250 x 4 so figure September at 2 levels a day), I'll take up occs again as GH occ supplies are getting low. I'll add on to this post
