I love polls. Not many of you might think they're fun or necessary, but some of us do :) So please try to enable creating polls on this forum if you can. Just like the "old" forum had... Pretty please? ;)

If you implement polls, please, again with lots of sugar and strawberries on top, don't implement a meaningless one like the old, outsourced feature request thingee ..

I'd suggest to always count, of course,

* the users who made a tangible choice by picking one of the available options,

but additionally

* extend polls with an "Unlisted" option,
* extend any poll with an "Abstain" option, and
* count any (registered) user who visited the poll but didn't vote anything once.

Why?
If making polls, whether just for fun or not, one needs to respect the *whole* community.

Here, we have a limited pool of users.
* Inactive ones that won't be part of the calculation,
* users who don't notice the poll (eg. don't visit the corresponding forum page),
* users who don't vote or choose to "abstain" (by clicking on it),
* users who have another opinion that's not listed,
* and last but not least users who share any of the opinions the poll offers.

Often, polls get "hyped". A simple yes / no poll regarding a feature request may be frequented rather by people liking that feature. People who aren't interested won't be counted, as they'll just ignore the poll, and the ones who are against it at least often don't come to know about it. That's a reason why the original feature request forum (was it uservoice?) was a fail-by-design.
Polls that don't count *all* participants will be, too.

Vote-per-account ftw.

I'm with Talya there. Please spare us the "10-votes"-system, I beg of you!

An integrated "Abstain-Option" would be really convenient, as well as an "Unlisted-option", I totally agree to that as well.

And to label either free accounts or paid accounts would be great too. Nobody likes his or her poll to be manipulated by masses of votes by fake-accounts. Of course I don't think many people would even think about this kind of cheating, but... well you know... just in case?

Oh yes, and please just one vote per account if possible, not per character. Very important note, thanks Jayce!

10 possible answers would be okay for every single poll, but I'd always appreciate more of those just to speak my mind. Creativity can know no bounds sometimes, especially when considering the sometimes over-active brains of us roleplayers... ;)

EDIT: wow, thank you very much for implementing this feature with really so many functions!
You guys are the best :D

wow, that would be more secure than the current feedback.ryzom.com site. There you can create unlimited accounts, all with the same display name (had to make another account there after openId forgot my credentials, else I'd never have known that little hole).

Done, check the "Create Poll" box at the bottom when you make a new post.
