Is there a way to write to a text file the connection stats (Upload, Download, Ping etc.) to a text file in the same way that the Chat can be logged?

I am interested in recording my internet connection statistics and while I can get a snapshot measurement, I would like to plot a graph of stats over time.

It's bad luck to be superstitious . . .

It's doubtful but you could watch an mtr against api.ryzom.com.

On Linux (and probably Mac too), easy. Plenty of FOSS tools out there that will monitor and log point-to-point connection.

On Windows, no clue. Wireshark maybe, even if it's an overkill.
