The changes have not been implemented yet, the post will be created before the patch with details. The first phase of the change for the shooting weapons should happen around the 27th of January.

So the first form of the change is decided but we don't get detailed information about the change, let alone a possibility of influence before the whole thing goes live?

I just want to understand the procedure, because it is potentially the biggest change in the combat system in many years, which apart from the big debate about daily missions does not seem to get any public attention.

How do you want to be able to influence something you haven't tested? The first phase of this change is only the addition of generic ammunition to the merchant and a modification of the space taken up by certain ammunition in the bag.

For the rest, the new settings have been partly tested on the test server, but it is virtually impossible for us to test it in real game conditions, that's why we will patch the changes on atys with a topic for the players to give their feedback and that's when you will be able to influence the change, if an adjustment is needed it will be done at the end of the given period for live testing.

For example, I could use my calculator to determine how far a well-known mechanics could affect the game by changing the values.

For example, you could announce the test of the combat system accordingly and would be able to attract a large number of testers to it.

How about an open test?

How do I want to influence the game? Usually this is done by co-determination within a community.

Anyway, I don't want to be confronted with combat bugs or overpowering weapons for weeks on end.

@Nightviper

You can always join Ryzom Forge and apply to become a member of various teams, for example the Test team. In that case please contact Tamarea with direct message on RC or via email at tamarea@ryzom.com

Btw, we did call for range weapons testers several times before :)

I tried this a few months ago to join the translation team, and since I knew that there were imminent changes in the battle, I also asked for the test team.

No response.

I've been playing very active again since the summer and I haven't heard anything about it. Until a week ago when I was informed by a player about the December test run. Doesn't have to mean anything, but maybe a live chat is not the right choice to reach as many people as possible.

Whatever.

A test if the implementation works does not say anything about the effects of the actual change in the game. Why don't you just share your plan and use all those who are willing to do so to have the best chance of success. You can still ignore us.

Bulk of launcher ammo is to be reduced by 30%.
Range is to become an ability of the ammunition.
Range is generally increased: Launcher ammunition 70 meters.
The damage of ranged weapon will be the damage of combat action.
The attack speed of the launcher will be increased by 60%.

I don't need to test this to know that the launcher will be completely overdriven and that it is just not advisable.

I advocate changes to the combat system. I have been begging for it for so many years. But testing in a live system. This cannot be the way.

I hope you will disable outpost flipping then, and all "sensible" infrastructure or game mechanics based on competition.

Since it has nothing to do with the test right?

Testing in live... this team reached the bottom of the bottom.

I am sorry to hear that. All I can do is to remind her about your apply.

We do this on Ryzom Forge meetings, you need to join the meeting or follow published reports. We were looking for testers in August for example :) But maybe you are right that we might need to advertise it more.

We need developers, 3d developers and artists, CSR and animators (mainly for american time zones), translators and wikipedists, testers... Well I probably forgot a team to name but volunteers for mostly all teams. IMHO we also need volunteers that will stay with this endless boring work for some time, are prepared to take multiple roles, actively search for existing troubles, care about tasks and are strict about requirements on quality.

We do via Ryzom Forge and inviting players for group testing. From what I know we did more than just review if implementation is ok, there were several test sessions, however you should ask Tykus about details.

Thing is, RF report are cool to have but they do not provide full plan for features development (meeting too, btw). There is not so much information to gather after each meeting.

A forum post with detailed information about what is in develpment and follow-up about the status would be a good way to keep people on track (or webapp whatever but a way to get information without having to ask someone on chat).

Ranged weapon is not the only features that leak informations:
- outpost revamp;
- marauder gameplay;
- new marauder zone;
- nexus reload;

Those came also to my mind ... they were announced a while ago and since then no real informations.

To Sinvaders post I would like to add that I personally am not interested in all contents. As long as the "story" in the game has no effects - I don't need to deal with it. I'm just as little interested in the daily missions or other things that can be replaced by other actions equally and simply don't affect "my game". Otherwise I absolutely agree with him.

I attended an RF meeting and unfortunately it was so boring that I didn't join another one. I don't think it is possible to find someone who wants everything (and is able to contribute to everything).

Thats why iam asking for the dedicated discussion thread and the information for a topic iam absolutly interessted in.

Addition: And just to be clear. No one has responded to this request yet! You're simply defending what you've done so far.

I would agree but my objection of this type is that these information being kept secret between internal teams a lot.

I see no reason to spoil any additional information on public before release, join Ryzom Forge and one of involved teams and you will have more information. Or you should, at least some...

The Roadmap board seems to be pretty outdated... :(

Haha, I have much older one, higher number of dynamic IG channels :P

About OP, I remember that neutral status was removed and that 2nd stage is (will be) removed. I am not sure if this change was published, but was announced. Other changes are still in testing and at some point testing was also done along with range weapons testing.

About marauder gameplay, I didn't find any testers with marauder account on Atys willing to test fix for tasks #8610, #8611 (discovered during testing of other improvements of marauder gameplay) and #7539 and also to review two additional possible issues on Atys. By the way, this overal testing task will be one year old in three days but still stays on the board. However 3 of 5 opened issues are probably fixed on Atys, we just don't have it confirmed by a testing. So some changes are being done (we have one another task opened for marauder gameplay on test board actually and one was already closed some time ago). No idea what was promissed by "marauder gameplay".

Who knows where are those marauder lands and nexus, I don't even know who works on it.

#15 Report | Quote[en]

Many things were promised for marauder gameplay. This project is something like 3 or 4 years old. The ranger faction work was started after the marauder gameplay stuff started.
Many inputs were asked to the marauder players .... we have filled many pads/document with what we were willing for, etc years ago. And I am not talking about minor fix such as fix the broken marauder rite or fix this NPC.
In the addition, there was talks about adding marauder camps (small one) to give visibility to the faction. There were also talks about removing some marauder TP.
You can ask to join the dedicated channel in rocket.chat if you want to ... but all the players (maybe not all) have lost hope and don't even bother with Ryzom anymore.

And yes, neutral has been removed for OPs wars, but that's not the OP revamp ... it's just a 'fix'.

For you others points: if even internally people keeps things secrets ... well what can we do? Except starting the same endless discussion on the forum.
