IDEAS FOR RYZOM

Make League-mates appear on Map (M) just like with Team mates

can make their icon different color than the team (red), like blue or green, this is ig map, so you won't be confusing the Blue/Green Icons you see on BM site.

I suggest: Make their icon Green/Blue when the league member is Alive, and change it's color to Grey/Gray..? when the homin is dead, so that others know when to revive/rez them.

Why do I think this is a good Idea:
-Useful for Active Guild, that's actually more than 1 team
-Useful for any type of Invasion/Events that usually needs League
-Useful in OPwar
-I think Adding this will make League a better system overall

Edit:
*this is a copy+pastarino code with a few tweaks (yes those 'few' tweaks will be a bit annoying)
*Yes I know the team is busy, just putting it out here

I beleive there is room for improvement in the league system for sure! I would like to see other league members on the map too.

Also because:
- Bypasses language barriers
- Promotes inter-team coop without a need for chat spamming

Do not assume that you speak for all just because you are the loudest voice; there are many who disagree that simply have no desire to waste words on you.

Not sure it will be readable, OP battle you just have a part of the map colored in green/grey... great... not sure how that's going to help :P

Leagues are generally for location-based activities imho, so same problem as above, but i can see that big guilds might find it useful sometimes.

@Sie - The map is rarely used when you are close enough to your teammates to see them anyways, but such a change would make it much easier to rendezvous because, lets face it, not everyone is good at giving or following directions. Anything that saves me from asking for directions from someone who cannot decently describe where they are is a good thing IMO.

Also, zooming the map is a bit more useful in close quarters if you're running a decent-sized display (27"/68cm or larger), but your point about readability is valid for those who play on tiny screens (especially laptops). I guess it's best to say that how useful that part is will vary depending on what one has for a computer setup.

+1 <-- definitely a very good, very useful idea 8))

I often have to rely on the M map to find teammates, as well as use the compass pointer to the one or the other in order to rescue or simply to join up with them. In the case of my trying to join up with a league of teams, it could easily prove very useful to see also other league teams* members in the M map ... then i could compass point to them, too. 8)

Also: in a recent boss hunt i did not even realize at first that league members were taking part till i happened to notice one of them pass by as i turned my camera view a bit.

Were the league members the whole time in view, then we coulld likely have avoided getting flattened as a team the first few mob fights.

I believe there was a similar proposal some time (years?) ago, and the answer was "no because calculating dynamically the position of each member of the league to show it on the map, and there can be tens or more of positions, would shutdown the server" (or the client? I don't remember). Something like that anyway.

My mid-range Haswell i5 is a lot more advanced than anything that was available back then despite it being weaker than the chips that have come out in the 5 years since. I don't think that's nearly the issue it was when the Northwood P4 was "State of the art".

Doesn't matter really, the server/client netcode is not made for modern video gaming feature (with its half frequency restriction)
If we want feature with a lot of update (or real time) like an improved map etc we would need to think about a rework.

And no ones sane will do this for 0€ :P

We should participate because we care... not for frigging money :P

Considering the amount of work this would require. Just NO Moniq.

No, it is simply just question of priorities. Since money is the objective for most of the society, I didn't expect any other answer...

I suggest we let developpers decide what is too much work and/if they will do it or not.

Its a nice Idea but I have the same concerns as Siela. I can imagine it resulting in a grey (or whatever colour leaguemates have on the map) map and no actual possibility of clicking on any of them, might be wrong.

P.s.

Constructive comments are welcome

Does this only apply when its a thread written by you and about RP? *badumm tss*
