IDEAS FOR RYZOM

should the New Horzions finite products limit (what they already have) be removed, so that players can help them regaurdless of system uses.
yes, the limit of 35 products given in 23 hours is enough.

ok, it's an old thing that gets ignored all the time with the excuse of "it's too hard" but the whole helping of NH is a useless feature right now, the only NH system ever used is in the desert region because the cities are spread across the whole ecosystem. in the other regions all the cities are in the lowest level zone, so treking is an easy option, as well as city tp's.

i say that issue gets ignored with the whole "it's too hard" excuse because when NH was first introduced it was one product at a time and they claimed "it would require too much work" to change, then after the entire community complained and raged about it, they changed it, any of us that have been on the yubo and looked at the NH stuff (like i did when developing the upper branches project teleporter's that would have granted travel to "new" maps to play) it's not always as hard as claimed, somethings can be changed in a matter of seconds (like i did for UB) while it might not be just a few seconds to change, i really feel it's pointless to have not 1 but 2 limiting factors in helping NH. first limiting factor is logical, you can give a max of X products in 23 hours (it's 23 hours cooldown, tested and proven by yours truely); the second however is the limiting factor that ruins it for everyone... "we do not need products at this time" why do they have a finite limit on the supply they can have in reserve, dappers aren't the most useful thing in the game, but some of us want the achievement points for the billion dapper.... bottom line, NH doesn't need a finite limit of products on hand for any reason other then to really stick it to the players.

my idea is simple:

remove the limit of their supply completely, keeping only the limit on products given per 23 hours. one limiting factor is enough, two is just an insult to the players, after all how much time do we spend on the occ to get the products to begin with.

I think (I'm pretty sure tho) that this is already being tested in yubo server.

Where you don't have to ride the NH just to give products and receive payment, the timer is still there tho.

and some other things... like not receiving fame anymore through occs.

the 23 hour cool down between helping with products is a fine limit, but the "must be used" to help feature makes it almost totally pointless and useless feature.... it's not alot to study on the yubo (been there done that, search "upper branches" or use a link in my signature, i cloned NH transporter's as my method for travel to what potentially could have been ryzom's first "expansion" since it was released... but that's another topic)it's not so complex a system that removal of the limit of producs NH can have on hand BEFORE you help can't be changed (removed).on a side note i have to also ask myself why NH has a timer between clicking on the city you want to travel to and when they tp you, my "great explorers" would teleport you to the UB of the local ecosystem (travel to the branches was orginally restircted inside each ecosystem, jungle to jungle UB, later changed to any one of them would have given travel to the UB of your choice, for only 7000 dapper per one way) within a second or two of clicking. sorry getting off topic.

that's a good point, they are semi useful in lakes as well for city to city travel, swimming is uber slow.  but that still only gives logic to a finite limit half the time, the other half the time it's totally useless, and the simple solution is to remove the "we have enough already" to "we can always take more, our stockpile is ever growing"so, of the 4 systems, 2 of them (lakes and desert) are used sometimes for travel, but the other two are less used (if like in desert the other cities were in higher level zones the system would be more useful, but when it's all in a level 50 zone like lakes, forest, and jungle NH just isn't needed as much [lakes being the exception ONLY because of the swimming issue])but who know's been talking about this for 3 or 4 years now... didn't take this long to study and change the ablity to give more then 1 product at a time (also was claimed to be "too much work, and just too hard to do" for quiet some time before the fix.)and if the dev's want help, i'm more then willing to do it, but these days i'm not going to invest time and effort into anything that will just be ignored (upper branches project... 1 year of work, stories, ideas, and personal work on the yubo, several other users worked on things, but only got ignored by the powers that be, RP and all was there, closing the excuse that it's not rp friendly or "lore" related..... sorry rage still really strong given the effort and following the UB project had and how it never felt like it was even considered by anyone at WG)  things like this is why i moved my creative efforts to another game where even bad ideas are answered and noticed by those that matter; while not every idea i have is used (and that's fine) at least the other games devs and admins would answer EVERY idea good or bad, and where clear up front if an idea would ever be used or not, preventing anyone from wasting 100's of hours of work (done for free with no expetation of payment).  sorry going off topic again... moving on.

(Just a note, the limit is 36 products per period, not 35 as the poll says)
to be honest the 36 is a bug/glitch when turning in all at once, the orginal limit of product you could give per day was 35.   i can clearly remember the fact that i had to turn in 35 products a day but only 1 at a time.... RSI from then was cured when they fixed the "it's way too hard" turn in feature from only 1 per time to any amount you want... not to exceed 35.  the reason being is that if you wanted to turn in the 35 limit the only way to make the script work was to set the limit to 36, so that people that turned in 10 one time, 5 the next, and 10 more in less then 23 hours is so the script could do the math to check and see if you had reached the 35 product limit.  thus when you turn in all at once, the option allows for 36 because the X+X=Y math of the script says that Y must be less then 36, if however you turn all of them in at one time, you can do 36 products because it's a different line of script that says X=Y and the script says that Y is =36.if you want to verify the original 35 limit, here's the link to the original announcement for NH, just read the comments, everyone is complaining about how long it takes to turn in 1 at a time 35 times.

Yep, the last RyzomForge meeting spoke about this and it should be in testing right now.

From how I understood it, you will now turn occupation products to someone that isn't the NH, you will no longer get fame from it and the NH rides won't be free even for those with high fame anymore.

that's ryzom for ya, ask for a simple fix on something and they totally rework it and change it, i am without a doubt that it would have just been faster to remove the damn limit NH keeps in "storage" from a finite number to no limit, or for that matter they could have changed the "supply amount limit" to a counter that kept track of how many products where turned in and how many times travel was made, be funny to see 1,000,000,000 products turned in, and only 8 travel trips taken.  (and i'd be willing to bet it'd come out like that too, tons helped to make a dapper/fame/civ point, a few actually waited for the "ride".reguardless of how they do it, it's just makes me laugh that it's been so many years to get here to the "we are working on it" stage finally, but like the wise man said: "better late then never".

Ok, you are right, if you go sell 1 product 36 times the limit is only 35 products per period.

I wonder who did the mathematics for NH while it is not the only strange counting there :)

it happens, i likewise was "shocked" when the bulk thing came along because it allowed the 1 extra item, not that i'd complain it was NH giving us a few cookie crumbs :)

What was the impetus to charginmg everyone ? ... that was the whole point behind Atys Citizen. Are those folks to be doubly penalized now after being shortchanged on rewards ?

When you say fame, are we talking actual fame or racial fame rewards ?

If every one has 200 total fame to spread around ... are Atys Citizens ton get a subscription discount since there's no way they can get the same rewards the 100 fame folks get ? As 100 is an accomplishment, I can understand the double points ... but a non citizen should be able to get the same by jumping around the nations ....at least make it possible to turn in "Your Fame"/ 200 in each racial region:

-100 fame lets ya turn in 36 as a citizen
-50-50-50-50 lets ya turn in 9 in each region, getting the same total reward for each circuit as the 100 fame person

You won't gain fame in civilization anymore, and 1k dapper per ride, even if your fame is 100 for that civilization. (to my knowledge)

What brought the change?
I remember someone saying (can't really pinpoint it tho) that it's not challenging.

bet they're only saying that because it's not gonna affect them anymore tho, poor newbies tho Lel!

There was no change yet AFAIK, I did some occupations recently to test that 35/36 products per period limit. Except there is a distance check to use NH services now (hurray for the fix).
