Hello Atys, I have finally taken the big-boy steps into Void and I had not encountered this until now (and after this experience, not sure how I managed this long without the following happening).

I spent almost my entire gameplay in the Jungle and I had decided to trek from Zora through Haven of Purity to Void, where I encountered a roaming tribe unit from Masters of the Goo. Since they did not attack me, I figured that I was safe. So, the next time I ran through Demon's Crossroad Outpost (Kincher's in-toe), I ran to the tribal area and as soon as I was there, they killed me and decided to feed me back to the very Kincher that was chasing me.

My question is, if the wandering tribal units do not attack us, then why would the actual tribe? Should the wandering units not reflect the true nature of fame of the actual tribe?

Anyway, seems odd to me but after all - I am newbie still, maybe this knowledge is acquired over time.

Thanks

Que les patrouilles des tribus puissent attaquer ou défendre suivant notre fame est une excellente idée (déjà évoquée par zendae si je ne m'abuse). Donc gros +1

That is true for all wandering groups, and I'm amazed you hadn't met with it before. It must have been your luck.

I have a theory on the matter, however. The scouting / patroling groups of the tribes are looking for potential threats to the tribe and also checking for resources. A long time ago, after many years of bloody warfare and loss of their young homins in battle, the chiefs of all the tribes ordered their patrols not to attack or defend any other homins, but to keep watch and report back.

Since this agreement has proven beneficial to *all* tribes, it has continued to this day. You will sometimes see two groups of patrollers from tribes of opposite alignment sitting and resting near each other in a particularly nice location.

Should an enemy or perceived enemy invade their camp, however, all tribes will violently attack said enemy. Similarly, if a friend in need enters, they will defend. How they tell who is enemy and who is friend, that is a mystery.

My theory

The only NPCs that will attack are bandits and guards. Wanderers are neither. The worst they'll do is refuse to give you a mission.

It's worth noting that if you're Kill On Sight (fame -50 or lower) then wandering NPCs are you're only chance to raise fame high enough to lose KOS status.

Do not assume that you speak for all just because you are the loudest voice; there are many who disagree that simply have no desire to waste words on you.
