*warning this is a long read, and if you do not want to read it, don't, if you decide to stick with it, please be constructive and don't turn this into spam-fodder garbage*

Dear friends,

this is an Open Statement to all homins interested in what's happening on Atys, with the sole aim of explicating, sharing my personal point of view, and uncovering some deeper and disturbing threads in a recent situation that occurred in our lovely planet of Atys.

I am quite sure that many of you might know that the outpost in Zo-Kian, previously under Marauder control, has been passed over, to a beloved by a part of the community, neutral Ranger guild, Phaedra's Tears.

I have seen already many statements on the various universe channels concerning the situation, which I find emphatically ill-informed, and what-is-more, totally sad. The sadness arises in that there is a sense of "entitlement", of some moral righteousness which is categorically ambivalent at best, completely unjustifiable at worst; morality and self-entitlement are not universals, and as such are open to interpretation and judgment.

Before I proceed, for those of you who do not know me, I am a member of the Kami faction, have been since day one of my time here. I want you to keep that in mind in reading what follows. This statement will be divided into two parts; part A will be about my interpretation on the passage of the OP to PT and my view on how Kami should react, and part B will be a harsh, but factually justified attack, on some unfortunate statements that were made in this post: https://app.ryzom.com/app_forum/index.php?page=topic/view/28700/1 #1.

(Also please try to make this constructive in case you decide to respond; I dont want this to end up in a Kami vs the world discussion, because I honestly put time and effort into this writing and consequent formulation of my thoughts and viewpoint and turning this into Kami vs the world thread, would beat the purpose of this statement).

Part A:

To get things out of the way; I have already put it to various Kami Leaders, and proposed a vote to be had, that the OP will be safe from a Kami attack for the foreseeable future. The decision is not up to me, and the discussion is still pending.

My reasoning however is NOT because I believe that PT(or any bisounours group of people for that matter) should have the Outpost. My reasoning is NOT based on a belief of the truth of the (in my opinion outrageous and categorically provocative, more on that on part B) statement of Bitty: " If any group that does not favor free and fair distribution of Outpost materials.." (emphasis is mine)

My reasoning is simple: I believe that by accepting passage of the Zo-Kian from Shadowalker, PT involved themselves, unknowingly perhaps, in a very clever game of chess set up by Agan. For your information it was decided long before the passage took place that a double attack would be held on the last two remaining Marauder outposts at the same date/time.

By donating the outpost to PT, the following magnificent (props) situation occurred: 1) Marauders can focus the entirety of their forces on just the one Outpost should an attack be decided,

but more fundamentally 2) Show to the people how bad and Greedy Kami really is; an attack on a beloved ranger/neutral guild's OP would enrage many neutrals (and rumors of an attack already have had that effect).

And that's the endgame of the whole OP passage in my opinion; especially at this time.

For the question is begged: why didn't you Agan, since you are such a true believer in "Free and Fair" distribution of mats to all, didnt you pass one of the OPs when your faction had 12 a couple months ago, and decided to pass it when it was the last one left? I believe the answer is crystal clear.

For this reason, and based on my preferences, the OP should stay with PT; I am not interested in parlor tricks and I don't personally mind this "experiment".

Part B:

Those of you who know me, know that I am a homina who despite the faction that I belong in, I always, ALWAYS, do MY bidding and I don't care about the after-effect of my actions from my Faction or whomever. This is part of my IRL situation that I have actually struggled for and achieved into transporting it into my RP in Atys. This is the reasoning why Revvy and I started our common venture called Echoes; we were Kami but we always played our game; and even though now he is gone (RIP LoL), I am still abiding by this fundamental pillar of my gameplay.

People tend to give Kami a ton of shit for many things; whether they are right or wrong is not my intend to dispute. But speaking for myself: I call out to your attention, and everyone who has been the recipient on this can testify, that I personally NEVER have denied help, OP mats, dug or loot mats, to anyone whom I consider a friend or a good acquaintance, irrespective of faction. I call many amongst the Marauders to be my character witnesses on that matter; I have been giving for quite some time now, especially in the past when they did not have any OPs, q250 Tekorns and Vedices, Egiros, and a plethora of other mats, on the basis of common beneficial agreements ofc, long before they had any outposts. I stress that they were not given for free, and why should they, haven't I, and others amongst me, worked hard for them, to give them away? But the point is, noone has ever been denied anything from my side, given that an agreement could be met. Faction didnt matter.

This is who I am. I do this, I am proud of this, and because of this, I don't take any crap from anyone who feels self-entitled or makes such naive statements of the sort : "that mats are dogmatically held by the Kami faction".
Generalizations never help in life and are only half the truth.

Now to the harsh part: I might not have been on Atys that long, only about a year and a half now, but my playing time, the amount of masters, the amount of effort, my guildhouse, serve testament to the severe effort and work hours I have put into Atys. As we Jokingly say with Revvy; we broke Ryzom. The two of us managed to amass about 20 masters together in a period of 2, 2-5months. We did one master per week mostly. This is how committed and hard-working I am; (and he is ofc), I have worked hard for everything in this game.

What is more, you will still find me solo training, digging, without the use of any alt, no help, nothing. I have never used an alt to make my life easier, no boss scout alts, either. I take tremendous pride in that I managed, and for a glorious 6month period we had managed, to be a dynamic duo; Atys was easy for me and Rev, because of our hard work alone.

When it comes to me; I learnt to be alone, learnt to be efficient, managed to become self-sufficient, on the back of my hard-work, dedication, and most importantly the skills I have learnt in this time.

Because of this; I am sorry; but I find ridiculous, insulting, demeaning, and outrageous statements such as: 1) Greedy Kami. Why am I greedy? Do you have any idea, and you can ask many people about this, how many sleepless nights I had in the past to get to the sups first? Month in and month out? Do you have any idea the lists and notes I was making of when I emptied a sup, where, keeping track of its refills, if there was a reboot, or the endless hours I have put into scouting a boss, keeping death timers, and scouting again? I am asking you, do you?

And keep in mind this was a three and after a while two homins job. Not a guild thing, not a faction thing; a true hard-working friendship thing. Revvy, Caellan and myself. And to those I am eternally grateful.

Based on this observation; the following statement is completely irrelevant, outlandish, and a naivete at best: "If any group that does not favor free and fair distribution of Outpost materials ".

What do you do that makes it free? Because you take nothing back? Go back a couple of months and read universe chats; see how many times and times again I personally was giving away OP mats. But those were mats that were mine, mats over which I lost nights and nights of my life for, worked hard for, fought for.

And why exactly it is fair? The fairness part killed me. Is it fair that a group of peace loving individuals, who may or may not done anything to "deserve" a q250 OP, I dare say have not, ended up with an outpost they are not equipped to defend?

And here comes the kicker: "we will be dependent upon those who favor this experiment to defend the Outpost. ".

As someone who is proud of everything of what she has accomplished as one, and at most 3 people enterprise, never relying on faction or outsider help, as the only 24/7 PvP flagged kami, realiant only on the basis of hard work at the most competitive level; well, you are essentially setting an example: don't fight for yourself, don't do anything, life will keep on giving, or in this case, Agan:)

You see, I am personally super confident in myself, I don't care about any blowback of my statements, I do not walk the high road and when I do, there is a reason for it. But sometimes, I speak out loud; I speak out loud because I have done everything that can be done by a single homina to afford me, factually justifiable, the opportunity to shout out loud "CRAP" when I smell it. You are not entitled to anything.

The thing to take-away from all this:

To quote Miley: I never meant to start a War..lol. That's not my intention; and I have no ill-intention or will towards PT or any guild for that matter. (mostly;p). I just think that some unfortunate statements were made, and felt the need to highlight that things are not black and white as many people would have it. Also let's please keep in mind that there are many types of speeds in Ryzom: competitive and casual. All I am saying is that when it comes to Faction Wars, part of it are the OPs, it is on the competitive scale; I think it's unfair to point fingers to competitive players for wanting to be the best and dominant at what they do, because well, that's the competition. And whether or not those competitive players are idiots or greedy or what not, I hope, I personally have showcased that this is not the case, and there are some other homins that are like me in my faction. Not all of them, and not the majority, but there are.

I will close this statement by the following concluding quotation which encapsulates exactly the meaning of what was stated above:

"To create new values -- that even the lion cannot do; but the creation of freedom for oneself and a sacred "No" even to duty -- for that, my brothers, the lion is needed. To assume the right to new values -- that is the most terrifying assumption for a reverent spirit that would bear much. Verily, to him it is preying, and a matter for a beast of prey. He once loved "thou shalt" as most sacred: now he must find illusion and caprice even in the most sacred, that freedom from his love may become his prey: the lion is needed for such prey.

But say, my brothers, what can the child do that even the lion could not do? Why must the preying lion still become a child? The child is innocence and forgetting, a new beginning, a game, a self-propelled wheel, a first movement, a sacred "Yes." For the game of creation, my brothers, a sacred "Yes" is needed: the spirit now wills his own will, and he who had been lost to the world now conquers the world."

Thanks for tuning in.

Partie A :

Interesting....

Nair-Northstar --

By free and fair I meant exactly what I put forth -- No cost and a non-judgemental and transparent distribution of the materials to any guild that requested them (based on time and number of materials produced).

Even you  will have to admit that any distribution of (for instance) maga root, while it may have taken place freely, was not verifiably fair (or not).  My proposal (which I still intend to carry out, win or lose) was to make it as demonstrably fair as the Chanchey system of NPC Boss hunt loot distribution.

As far as Agan's motives are concerned, I agree with you, and I also don't care.  I saw an opportunity for a Ranger high level Outpost and a chance to show what a Ranger guild can do.  I did NOT make this decision alone, nor did I make it with any illusions about what the reaction of the "Kami Faction" would be.

If the neutral and Ranger and (other) forces can successfully defend Zo-Kian, I will be happy.  If not -- I will be satisfied.  I invite you to come and defend it in accordance with your opinions.

Sincerely,

MacOd Bittty,
GL, Phaedreas Tears

Well it seems that not all the Kami want a discussion and risk a negative outcome to thier intentions by thier peers have decided for themselves to take action before any consensus can be reached. Obscurus Liliam has declared on the Zo-Kian OP. Is this how its done in the Kami faction ? or are they acting as a rogue guild ?

I have no words but yes your Faction Action shows all i would like to say.

@Agan: The best time to hand over the Outpost you missed. If you had given this, (or all) to Bitty, shortly after the conquest, that would have been reasonably credible. Instead, you handed over your last outpost, knowing that you would lose it in a Kami attack. Playing Mother Theresa now is ridiculous. Now you write, you have no words, but you sit on your chair and rub your hands full of joy about your dirty trick. But I hope all neutrals recognize your game in the end.

@ Bitmacod: What did you think ? Even as a neutral you are certainly also informed that the Kamis are on a crusade to conquer lost outposts back. We have reconquered five out of seven lost outposts. (Meanwhile, West Blackburn Trade Post was conquered in a secret attack by Le Clan de Forces Obscures against a virtually inactive guild)
Did you really think we'll stop after that? The attack on Zo-Kian Outpost was already discussed and planned before you published your announcement. The attack today is no coincidence, because the attack was planned for today, so basically it has nothing to do with you.

The fact that Agan hands over the outpost shortly after the Kamimeeting, is of course no coincidence as well, because we are well aware that a spy was sitting in our midst.

I, too, at first had great misgivings about attacking a neutral outpost, but in the aftermath I realized that you were a victim of Agan, driven by the very honorable idea of distributing Op materials to all factions. But who asked you for it?
I assume that you are certainly an intelligent person, but unfortunately also a bit naive. The Kamis are now being portrayed as the bad guys, but by playing Agan's game, you have also lost some of your integrity and neutrality because you had to know that the Kamis are not just watching Agan's intrigue. Of course it was not your intention to be Agan’s puppet, but you haven’t thought it to the end.
Now Moniq writes the Kamis attacking without first having a discussion about it with you. Where was your communication? I think if someone appoints himself a neutral distributor of materials, he should first ask if everyone agrees.

And lastly, I'm convinced no kami would question the outpost's ownership if you had captured it in a fight against the Shadowalkers (I know, neutrality) or before in a forum discussion, or face-to-face consultations that would have caught the approval of all political groups.
To be neutral does not mean having the sole right to such decisions and the supremacy of having what is and is not morally justifiable.

Google Translation:

@Bittymacod: Was hast Du Dir dabei gedacht?

well you have nothing to say, cause everybody sees you have nothing to refute valid arguments, only bla bla and lol to cover your awkwardness in a discussion like this. And its so tiring to read the same lines about greed, outnumbered etc. over and over again.

Just passing by...

Perhaps it is time for the Hominity of all kinds to realize that they do not need to be enslaved by a religion,
false hopes, or false deities ( aka Gods ) who voluntarily create discord and tensions over Atys.
All this to keep their power in place, in an eternal co-status based on an old grudge prior to our time.
Open your eyes, Homins! They control the Nations in the shadows.... Our Nations.

We Marauders, fought and survived without their help, to the strength of our convictions under the threat of Kitins.
And, we recognize the fact that any Homin liberated is a potential ally in times of war and lies.

The neutral can no longer stay away from reality, a choice must be made before it is too late.
To build a new base, you must destroy the old one, the religions enslave and put a brake on the development of the Hominity.
Their real purpose is certainly not ours.
You are the product they consume by taking control of your life, your dedication and your soul.

It is time for you to defend your freedom, your values and your principles against slavery, which is both physical and spiritual.

How long will you accept this fate they are shaping for you?

Or will you end up breaking these chains, living freely on a new path, freshly created by your care.

Atys is now watching.

Naema wakes up to a cold blustery day and feels something is not right. She smells the winds of war blowing her way. Not a good way to wake up.

It has been ages since that dark menace has shown its face her way since she chose the ways of peace by becoming a Ranger.

She drinks some of Anichios mead to wake herself up to reality and to realize that it seems some things never change. A tear falls from her eye.

She realized she better start stretching her tire muscles and prepare. Many times she has swung the sword, but alway towards Kitins for the most part. Now it will be agains homins. She gets her mind situated on that, and prepares... prepares to help her fellow Rangers defend an OP for the benefit of Hominity. Also, asks that her fellow guildies not fight against her as she has a strong relationship with them. Be that as it may, what comes, comes!

She throws on her battle gear and grabs her weapons and heads out the door with a steel gaze.

Revvi once a honorable Kami, now belonging to a bunch of villains is talking about freedom, values and principles.

Belonging to the Marauders, that lured and attacked brandnew homins at the arena on Silan just to kill them for fun. And they just stopped after the Game masters told them to stop.

It is the Marauders that attack homins in the prime roots.

As long as Marauders held 7 outposts I never read solemn appeals like this about to defend freedom and against slavery.

All we saw at that time was the typical false pride / arrogance towards all other factions. "We Marauders fought and survived without their help"

And now this hypocritical speech here? If this outpost was still in Agans hand this speech would not even have happend.

Finally all I can say is, Homins don't let them take you for idiots. Marauders gave countless examples of their nefarious attitude and now they play wolf in sheep's clothing.

I would like to say that i'm totally against what Agan did.

This OP was taken by Marauder faction. Not only by SW. But, he doesn't asked the faction if we were ok with it.

* take an evil smile * Burn him alive.

By hearing all the stories about Zo-Kian outpost, I started to smile again.

Now the Kamis showed their will about conquering all the strategical positions over Atys.

I started to think on my own: "Everyone knows that Zo-Kian outpost is producing a material called "Cheng roots" used to make weapons, powerful weapons, used in war. Phaedras Tears which is a ranger and neutral guild doesn't take position in any known conflicts and grant their help to the one asking for it. But Phaedras Tears which was owning the Zo-Kian outpost offered to freely distribute this precious "Cheng roots" production to the one asking for regardless their alignments or religions which means the following: "Us as peaceful rangers/neutral will provide weapons materials to everyone and we hope everyone will be happy about it". Which basically means "we will provide weapons to your ennemies as well than you" why they would have think that nobody will take this outpost over ? Cause here we are really talking about a guild willing to provide weapons to everyone.

Next time I will see Agan, I will thanks him (a lot) because of him we all see know the ridiculous positions of rangers in the power game.
