Rangers all and all neutral folk in Atys --

We (Phaedreas Tearss) were offered a chance to take over he Zo-Kian OP from Agan and the Shadowwalkers, to distribute the materials thereof to all, in a free and fair fashion. After a good deal of thought, Phaedreas Tears accepted. This is a little tricky because, well, we are a non PvP guild. (We will be attacking the NPCs.)

On behalf of Phaedreas Tears, Itzy declared on the Zo-Kian OP at 9:00 UTC yesterday. At 9:00 UTC today (12 June 2018) the handover will commence with Fleetwood, Zatarga, Crazyitzy and Itzy and myself(*) participating.

We would really appreciate it if other Rangers (and the guilds they are in) would come and help. Please wear your Ranger badge (title) if you have it. If you are neutral and want to see this happen, please attend as well.

Let the Rangers (and all homins on Atys) flourish.

--MacOd Bittty, Guild Leader, Phaedreas Tears.

(*) Due to the time and my time zone, I will be present only for the first hour. (It starts at 02:00 local for me.)

(HRP/OOC)
[EN]Well, the OP bug struck again (or still, or something). The clock reset in a peculiar fashion, and the actual attack time is now 00:00 UTC 13 June.

We had a nice little turn-out (thank you very much to those who did turn out).

Those of you who can, please assemble at Zo-Kian about 10 minutes beforehand. (Yes, I know it's 2 A.M. CET and if you don't want to stay up that late, I totally understand.)

MacOd Bittty

MacOd Bittty.

Pom opens the document carried to him by a very tired Izam...

she starts reading. The homin is sad.

she gets something to write on and starts writing:
Nair'Bitty

Y am sad because my goal was not to offend Sul nor to question Seyem's intentions.

Y exercises the trade of mercenary Al accordingly Y must make Ysem Tallai's sap flow. Which is not without triggering conflicts in me...

yem intention was only to emphasize that war is inevitable... It should also be added that this will force all Ranger companions to take a stand. Also, Y is no exception. Y don't think owning this OP is a good thing Tor Hominity. Also, Y refuses to pour the Tor Sap a Project where according to Y, there is nothing to gain.

Y hopes to be in error Al that the whole of hominity will federate Tor its greatest benefit around this OP.

Accept Yem LorDoy

I am just a lowly f2p, who has only been on Atys for a few years. If I am speaking out of term, my apologies.

Using an other world's comparison [ooc]D&D chaotic/neutral good alignment[/ooc], my direction in life has been freedom and flexibility, without being arbitrary and irresponsible, and aide where possible.
In another world [ooc]libertarianism[/ooc], my core principles are autonomy while choosing to help others.

To me, the very nature of a ranger requires to cull mobs when necessary for their own benefit, yet defend the innocent where possible.

As a Ranger, I am not sworn to pacifism.

I am to remember, preserve, service, diligence, tolerance, and balance. In all these the implied tension is there, which was there with Oflovak Rydon, and it will be there for us.

We are not asked or even suggested to roll over like a yubo waiting for the knife to cut our throats.  We can and should defend ourselves.

What teaching do we leave to the weak if we just roll over? Do we teach them that the only way is to be slaughtered? Look at all animals on our lands.

Even the weakest will stand up to giants and defend themselves when attacked.

I do not know the right answer to the OP situation as I am not privy to all the details.

Nudge, this is exactly how I thought back in my ranger days. Well I also thought of Babylon 5 rangers a bit ^^

It is true, Rangers should not be pacifists.  Neither are we police.  We are sworn to protect homins;

"The Rangers are forbidden to bear arms against any other homin, whatever their nation and belief except in self-defense. It is the same with stateless persons, or trytonistes marauders. The only few times permitted, it is in the friendly games. And yet, it has to treat or seek treatment competitor after the fight."

This at first seems self-contradictory, but seems to allow for participation in 'Friendly Games'.  I take this to mean Atysmas events etc. and perhaps duels but definitely not Outpost Battles.  There is an instruction to try to heal / res after the fight.

- The Pacifist would stand by while other Homins are being attacked
- The Police would intervene in disputes between Homins (like OP Battles)

Neither of these is the role of the Ranger.

Where did you find that quote (found it at https://en.wiki.ryzom.com/wiki/Rangers )  It is not part of what Wuaoi has been saying, in fact he has contradicted it on several occasions.  You should be aware that the Ranger page in the wiki is not canonical Lore, but generated by players, who may have their own agendas.

Your statement that the Rangers are neither pacifists nor police, however, falls into my understanding of what Wuoai has said.

How did the fight for the Zo-Kian Outpost go? In case you won, did you have to defend it since then?

I've heard only rumors how rangers that were sitting on the OP got slaughtered. Most certainly the OP is under Kami control now.
