#1 Multilingual

Hey guys,

I have something to share.

I've ported Saga of Ryzom to Android.

The short video you can see here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZeaCuTX8fU

This is my second attempt to do it. Before I've used OpenGL ES 1.1 but sadly the performance was very poor....
This version is using OpenGL ES 3.1 and it has full 60 fps easily running on full HD screen, so it's much better now :)

Sadly the controls and whole UI is not yet prepared for small screens.

Anyway I hope you like it!

(Hoping that's not full screen video, I've been tricked by that trick few times before xD)

Anyway, very nice job! It doesnt seem laggy at all (atleast while standing still). Controls could be done with just attaching keyboad/mouse, but would be handy to have all on screen too. Hehe, UI and small screens, or very big screens might be bit tricky.

Well done!

I agree that the UI might be a little problematic with a touch screen in the 4-7 inch (10-18 cm) range, but there are ways around that. Bluetooth is a good thing!

Do not assume that you speak for all just because you are the loudest voice; there are many who disagree that simply have no desire to waste words on you.

Hi!

Sounds very nice! Congratulations :D

Are you planning to share your modifications? Is it stored somewhere? Or a diff, perhaps?
Of course you don't _have_ to share, but it would be nice, and maybe someone else can jump in and improve the work.

Hey Nuno,

I'm planning to release sources after I prepare some docs.
I've prepared lots of bash scripts, that should make the building basically painless but I've tested it only on my machine so far :)

But there's some quirks... the code is messy plus I switched the repo from Mercurcial to Git as I'm more familiar with it and it was much easier and quicker
to work for me on that version control.

So far there's for example no data downloader. So what I needed to do is copying the Ryzom data files from PC to sdcard on Android, I also want to write something simple that would make this process automatic.

Then there's almost 200 commits with message "Updates" when I was moving forward right now. I will try to squash it soon.

I hope more people might get interested and we might work on it together.

Hello, Krispl.

Thanks for the good news.
Most people that are interested in this, at this point, probably will not need a proper installer -- copying the data/ directory is fine.

And doing an user friendly "installer" is (very) hard work... I wouldn't mess with it for now =)

Thanks,
Nuno

Hello, krispl

Thanks for good jobs.

What can we get from the sources? Please

This looks great! It might be too soon to say, but I would love this on the Ipad/phone too since that is what I have. :D
Sorry, I am not a programmer and have no clue how to do. :(

Update please :-) I really want to dive into this as a coder and player.
