Hello all,

a guild member of ours cannot log in Ryzom with his main character on his new win 10 machine.
As soon as he logs in his main character a message appears "... ryzom.exe does not work ..." or something similar and the Ryzom client crashes.

Can log in with any other (small) character of the same subscribed account.

Can log in with any character of his main account on his son's win 8 machine.

Any ideas?
Thank you in advance for any advice

It's not the fault of Win10. I just had to be forcibly converted to Win 10 and my "large" main can log in just fine (computer up and died, so I had to bring my disks across).

I suggest as a possibility that either the *.icfg or *.xml file for the toon has been corrupted. If there are backup copies, recopying them would be something to test.

You could also try copying the icfg and xml files somewhere else and launch the main toon without it's setup stuff (I suspect that would work, but it's clearly not a satisfactory long term solution.)

Looking in the client.log file and comparing the successful to unsuccessful logins would also help assign "blame".

Hope these ideas help.

Bonjour,
Je pense comme Bitty, vous pouvez renommer le sous-répertoire "save" puis copier-coller celui qui est sur le Windows 8 (sur lequel ça fonctionne).
Il est possible qu'un fichier du personnage soit corrompu.

Offtopic:

You can and you should forbid your Windows 7/8 from nagging you to upgrade to Windows 10 if you're not interested.

Personally I've used Never10, it's straightforward to use. I could almost swear that the nag program used by Microsoft to "remind" people to upgrade slows down computer performance. Once Never10 disabled that software, the machine is fine again.

Anyway, sorry for the rant, it does not apply to computers that already upgraded :)

Agreed. I had Never10 on my Win7 computer -- the one that died.
*sigh*

However, it's not the culprit in this case -- my Ryzom is running fine.
