think a good idea would be to add choice mat mobs as part of the scenery, they are tough and already scarce in the current landscape, and perhaps would be an incentive for crafters since the chance to actually use those mats is really low. i think the area should be a new PR zone with goo sections /was thinking something along those lines as part of trytonist RP). maybe i'd add some ruins of a huge karavan shipwreck in it and add a KoTD lair within it, the roleplay would relate to a deeper part of PR. and perhaps bring a new OCC that even maruders could do

Great ideas! I love the though of lots of mobs that drop choice mats (with appropriate respawns ofc). I was hoping the new zone would be under Almati woods and therefore contain his secret lab (which Mezix is trying to use). A new occupation for marauders- this would be a brilliant chance to implement it- could involve parts of Almati's equipment that are scattered over the region perhaps? Although in the type of region I described would be hard to run solo but I am sure my guild would do it and have great fun as a group.

Kara tech would be a great idea to implement and has the opportunity for a variety of RP and events to be created from it :)

the collective ideas here are good, they lean towards progress and could even find ways to explain/use megacorp as a part of the action. (i had some thoughts for it with my upper branches, but that would be the next evolution, that would be after all the upper branches stuff was created and active and i moved on to the next expansion project.)

any new progress is better then none, so i'm behind this as much as my own ideas, as long as we're all pushing for something new that everyone can use, i'm game to try for any of it :)

A new occupation for marauders- this would be a brilliant chance to implement it- could involve parts of Almati's equipment that are scattered over the region perhaps?

I spoke hastily and got carried away. A new occupation such as this should be open to all homins. Would drive people into the new region in groups to try and do the new region.

In turn- this new occupation could be the rejuvenation of the potion making. I never managed to do it myself but from what I know it basically used other occupation mats to form potions. As the art was lost (RP talk going on here) homins could use components gathered from the fragments of almati's lab (or the kara tech) in each potion made. This (I think) would be a slight twist on the old potion making occupation and increase the difficulty which is exactly what this new region should bring.

je suis completement d'accord avec l'idée du post!!!
en effet, pour les joueurs confirmés, il manque de challenge de haut niveau en équipe, des choses dures à faire en quelques sortes...!
et l'ajout un tel contenu, s'il est inséré par un RP bien construit, et un gameplay également accessible, ça redonnera de la dynamique à Ryzom! c'est sûr!

la question est: "est-ce faisable?" seul les devs peuvent nous répondre sur l'idée je pense...
mais... ce post est bien expliqué! clair et concret!

Merci d'avoir remonté ce post ; je ne l'avais pas vu :)

Je ne suis pas dev, mais je suis une des leaders sur Khaganat et j'ai donc une petite idée de ce qu'on peut faire avec le moteur de Ryzom, et de la difficulté que cela représente.

Créer une nouvelle zone est très complexe, mais pas impossible. Cela demandera par contre énormément de travail. Et Ryzom ne peut pas fournir seul ce travail (des bénévoles qui n'ont pas forcément les compétences techniques, un dev qui est déjà occupé à plein temps pour faire tourner le serveur ; et parfois quelques autres devs embauchés temporairement mais pas assez pour ce genre de projet).

Donc, si on veut que ce soit possible, il faudra avoir le maximum d'aide, à tous les niveaux. Ryzom a besoin de vous ! ;)

Toute la partie conceptualisation peut déjà se faire : savoir à quoi ressembleras la carte, ce qu'on y trouve dessus. Le trajet des mobs, les zones de ressources, etc. Vous pouvez d'ailleurs utiliser Ryzom Forge pour ça : le forum, IRC, le wiki... Si vous avez besoin d'autres outils, demandez, nous essayerons de vous les fournir. L'équipe d'animation pourra suivre si l'histoire de la zone colle avec la lore cachée ; il est même probable qu'ils vous proposent une trame (il y a déjà quelque chose pour New Zone).

Par contre, cela ne peut marcher que si tout se fait en public. Désolé pour le secret cher à Ryzom, mais là, ça serait contre-productif... Cela veut dire que les gens qui travailleront sur cette zone risquent de se spoiler des informations et n'auront pas le plaisir de la découverte.


Pour des raisons techniques, il sera plus simple d'utiliser une île de départ que de recréer de zéro une zone. Créer un nouveau continent est un peu trop complexe sur ryzom (le jeu)... déjà sur un serveur perso ce n'est pas simple, mais dans le jeu même il y a d'autres contraintes, on risque de vraiment tout casser.

Par contre, le projet "New zone" est à la fin des objectifs de Ryzom Forge pour une bonne raison : il ne sera faisable que si nous avons des outils fonctionnels, ainsi que suffisamment de gens qui maitrisent le code du jeu.

Actuellement, nous avons beaucoup de soucis avec les outils, et pas assez de devs pour régler ces bugs. Engagez-vous ? ;)

Plus sérieusement : bien qu'il n'y ait pas d'impossibilité technique au projet (pour ce que j'en vois), cela demandera des devs qui maitrisent le C++ et connaissent bien le moteur du jeu. Trouver ces devs est compliqué. Et Ryzom ne pourra sans doute pas les payer, donc il faut qu'ils acceptent d'être bénévoles. C'est la partie la plus compliqué du projet...

Bien qu'on puisse réutiliser les assets graphiques déjà existants, cela pourrait être agréable d'avoir des nouveautés dans cette zone (un nouveau roi par exemple) : cela demandera des modélisateurs/graphistes. Je pense qu'on peut s'en passer pour faire une nouvelle zone, mais ce serait un vrai bonus.

there's always the unused mob level's (some mob's only go up to 170) there's named and boss (king) mob's listed on the wiki that go unseen and unused, so those could be brought out.

we're used to what we see everyday, why not use some of the stuff that's there and unused? anyway i won't ramble on, i'm put in my 30k words for ideas and back ground story, and slowly release those stories 1 chapter a week in the RP forums.

Thank you Laofa for clearing some things up :) Some unique items would need creating I just hope the folks up at the Ryzom Forge are up to the task (and seeing some of the stuff they have made I think they are). As Talk said they do have a fairly large stock of unused bosses so perhaps some of them could be utilized.

I did have one thought to add which was that if a Kitin Nest was added it should be half submerged into the wall so the only way to get at the larva would be to do the nest properly instead of jumping around the back to heal. Could even add a portal into the Kitin Lair when a new part of it opens up as a side thought.

re-bump for a PvP(GvG) region with 250 Racial Sups^^ To make land even more alluring, could have it support all 260 named at random (supporting only 4 or 5 at a time) and all would be PR mat . This would make fun region for diggers, crafters, hunters, and PvPers.....

Sorry even though I love PvP I really don't think this new zone should be PvP enabled. I want it to be so full of aggro that even attempting PvP would be impossible- therefore no real point in PvP enabling it. Making it PvP would not make this region fun for diggers and crafters as many would be deterred from it.

I do like the idea of making it random 260 named mobs with a capacity of 5-6. This would be the next best thing (imo) if new 260 mobs (such as gingo or perhaps a goo yubo) were not going to be added.

Making the region a unique land for forage and loot mats, rather just being another place to get PR mats, could be a way to bring new colours for armour into the game.  These mats could be used as a way to introduce new plans for armour etc.

As far as forage is concerned, PR is so easy, even after the return of KP, that it is a joke.  As it stands, PR forage xl and sups are limited in supply by a long refill mechanic and limited ammount per spot, and 'aggro' guards.  Due to the small player base, this does not work; it is ridiculously easy to fill a GH with highly sought sups.  It might be better with Virg's idea of a truly hostile environment to make all grades (fine and basic could be included to give more colour and crafting options) of forage mats in the new region refill as choice mats do in PR. Supply would be then be limitted by the environment being truly evil.  Further, the new region should have a new hidden weather pattern, one you cannot look at BM to then just turn up and dig.  The weather could be made to be very erratic, so mats would pop often, but for very very small weather windows.  With no safe spots to just sit and wait on weather, and small weather windows, with frequent weather changes, teams would not get bored waiting to dig.  If you want sup zun to grind your rubbarn with make the region so hard that this is not an option.  This region could be unique in making forage mats rarer than looted ones.

If I get Virg's idea (which I probably haven't), he wants a region where the reward is more in the sense of accomplishment (though you will also get very few sups compared to PR), like raiding a kitin nest without exploiting and healing through walls.  It will be easier to get your NPC HA than +3 Parry HA crafted with mats from this new region.  As far as forage is concerned, you will have lots of opportunities to dig, but most will be degrades or lost due to dead digger syndrome.

Perhaps putting bosses on timers, a combination of Shooketh and Kizokoo, could make the region even more evil. 

Ofc, KP with 175m range, 250m for males (males are stinky so it makes sense that KP would smell them out quicker), would help a lot!

Adding new colours would be cool but failing that q250 racial sups as BB7 and malachi have said. If these sups took on the colour properties of materials that would otherwise give bad stats (beige, green, purple, turquoise) then this could open up a whole new variety of looks whilst keeping good stats- I Elvy would kill to get supreme purple mats! The weather would have to be different as you said and also unreadable. I like the sound of erratic and popping often but not for a long time.

Yes the main reward would be through sense of accomplishment but obviously rewards are required otherwise people wouldn't bother. With chances at things like new bosses, nameds, racial sups and Mezix that would certainly tick that box. Ryzom needs things to see whole teams (or maybe more) come together.
