You'll notice I added a seventh point of consideration about locations of mission mats and contributions. Of course, there are several spots where you can get the materials. If you do a search in BmSite's Maps you'll find out there are several spots where you can dig mission mats of different levels, even in different zones. They should all work for the rite since the necessary mats say "at least" of such and such quality. I imagine higher quality would be accepted as per other missions. It is very tricky to prospect for the mats at one specific spot as I explained above. so should you not find them where I mentioned (even though you should since I did, unless they are weathered or seasoned as it is for the Rite of Gathering and Hunting Matis Rite. So as I have stated above. please post alternatives to where these mats can be found below and I will link them in the spoilers as I have done with Bittymacod's post.

you get the generic long axe plan by doing the pyr city welcomer crafting missions (start with the one that talks about crafting 5 boots) you have to craft all 5 boots before the next step will trigger, unlike other craft missions that will reduce the number each time you craft an item. (seams like that's a bug) the spear (spear is 1h and the pike is 2h) mission is from the welcomer in yrk. (not sure on the missions for that, yet)

I just completed "The art of forging weapons" (Fryos rite). I only recieved one axe plan (not 3 plans as described in the initial post). Am I missing something or is the original post incorrect?

I only ever got a generic axe plan - not sure where these other 2 come from - certainly not from doing that mission, so yes, think it is wrong

Foraging in the lake lands is well worth doing - allows you to dig nodes you have prospected - comes in useful in various places - and the "extra time" was not noticeable for me - so still good for kill-diggers imo

My other generic plans were from the Welcomers - 2h sword in lakes, mace in jungle, forgotten what the Matis one was ... sorry Talkirc - was spear then :D

when MP get's back from his vacation i'll have him correct it, the 2h axe i explained, and bina explained the others as far as where to go to get them, but not which missions. :)

there's also a generic buckler and generic shield as well, the buckler you get in jungle not sure where (but i have it, i think it's a rite)

Having just completed Food (The rite of hunting and gathering), a few thoughts:

If your harvest level barely suffices to dig (you're level 90 or so) - get a high level digger to help you out. The  spots are easy to dig, but prospecting is a pain.

The BMsite maps are almost correct, except the deposits themselves are extremely tight. It might take several prospections before you find the necessary mission mats. The problem is compounded by having regular craftable mats nearby, which will pop in great abundance and to the detriment of your mission mats.

Rite: The trial of Oflovak

The rite starts at the Barman in Pyr, after the preconditions are done.

You have to speak to the Tribe Chief of the Water Breakers after you got the rite from the Barman.

In my language Interface (german) he told me, that i should bring the crafted items to him - this is wrong! The crafted items should be given to the 3 NPC, that are targetted in the mission protocol.

For this rite Splinter Shell, more wood and fibre is necessary, because you have to craft a 2H Long Sword.

The first Water Breaker NPC, Deutis Apocaps in Northlake farm will show a speech bubble only at 1.00 hrs. This might confuse rite starters, because they are sent to speak to a NPC without a speech bubble most of the time.

I got 2 plans with this rite, generic long axe and generic axe
generic 2 hand pike with the same kind of mission from Yrkanis city welcomer
generic 2 hand mace from Zora city welcomer

and no generic plan available for spear ingame as far as i know

the first post is incorrect related to the reward, the rite reward is the generic 1h axe plan.

the 2h generic axe plan comes from a welcomer in pry.

when MP returns from his vacation i'll have him correct it, till then we'll just have to enjoy the hard work he did with a few minor errors.
