Dear players,

As was recently promised, the ongoing preparations for the event "Temple Wars 2" will be regularly published in this thread.

Enoril, the Event Manager in charge of the project, will begin with a review of the kara/kami outposts event, which served as a prologue. He will then be talking about future plans.

I now hand over to him.

Hello everyone!

As Tamarea has promised you, here is a status regarding the next event I've been working on for several months: "Temple Wars 2".

For those who do not know me, I've been Event Manager since the end of Novembre 2012, but I've also been a former member of the Animation Team between 2005 and 2007.
And, even though I'm an elder on the Bark, I didn't know of this marvelous tool called ARCC, developed while I was away.

Hence, I had to tame it, and that's how the event about the Karavan/Kami Outposts took place.
It allowed me to measure the capacities of the ARCC tool, to understand its strengths and its weaknesses. And I could then notice that the ARCC has a huge potential..

Nota: In order to avoid writing a full book, I'll cut my explanations in several parts which I'll post on a regular basis.

Before speaking about the future event, let's consider the results of the Karavan/Kami Outposts event:

More than 825 players joined in it and gathered a bit more than 1.7 millions mats. 1.75 millions faction points have been given out, while the ARCC has been requested (through NPC interactions) more than 30,000 times. That's a lot, a lot more than what I had imagined, and it explains the performance troubles you met at the beginning.

The kami players (especially Fyros ones) took me unaware with the speed at which they gathered the mats. And the problem with seasonal mats not available is a (gross) miscalculation which I hadn't anticipated, since I'm nothing but a novice forager. This created an imbalance against the Karavan side that was difficult to counter.

As for me, creating the (web) interface that shows the progression of the harvest was a real nightmare, the in-game web engine being so "particular". The number of mats to be harvested (6 per nation, hence 24 to be managed) hasn't helped making the scripts simpler either, especialy when gathering mats 'm0624dxafd01' and 'm0624dxald01'. You don't see any difference? Come on, it's self evident! That's 'Choice Forest Moon Resin' and 'Choice Lakes Moon Resin'. *Gets some aspirin.*

The event has allowed me to establish some things that will be useful for my next events:
- the enthusiam created by the beginning of the event requires the technical part to be robust enough to stand the players interactions;
- it is better to create a real in-game interface rather than to use a web page;
- when creating a foraging mission, the considered mats have to be either created specifically for the event or available in any season;
- it is necessary to find a way to limit the progression per day of one faction, in order to avoid that the event ends in 3 hours;
- and some other points that I'll share in my next articles...

I'm fully aware that I haven't spoken about the future event yet, but I wanted to explain the basis of my reflection, which finally brought me to create a module that stands between the ARCC and the classical interface you've known for years. A module that will be further detailed in my next articles and that allows to create - for example - the interface posted on Facebook some weeks ago...

See you soon for the next part of the status regarding the "Temple Wars 2" event !
