I have no idea if this is the correct term but every so often i am going in one direction then suddenly yanked by 5mtrs or so.

This is driving me insane can anything be done about it?

This happens when you are having severe PW's and is caused by the resynchronizing of your toon to the server. It happens to me, too, on bad days.  :(

I have seen this happen to a lot of toons on a fairly regular basis, that is not to say they were not all suffering from the please wait syndrome.

I have never suffered with this prior to the month of so it has been happening and it seems to happen even without PW's or any sort.

I think this feedback is needed, so, yeah, its been happening these days, for ~1month now.

I dont remember ever having 'rubber banding' in all those years, so something has changed lately that is causing that.

Im sure they'll fix it, someday :D

I love this effect, it makes the effects of drinking shooki ale seem real.

We've had this here, too. On two separate accounts, two computers, shared internet connection without any sync losses or "please waits". Sometimes it's just after login for 2-3 times, sometimes it's happening right in the middle of gameplay after an hour of undisturbed play and lasts 30 minutes. A relogin can fix it. Sometimes playing for several hours go without any "rubberbanding" (love the word to describe the symptom).

I remember a long time ago there was an issue where certain sound settings caused a lot of rubberbanding issues, only time I've seen rubber banding myself. Not sure if this is a similar issue but you could try playing around with your sound settings....

You can't "complete" the mainland. If one thinks one has seen or done everything there, one is kidding oneself. But be prepared to "get out what you put in," because the mainland does not coddle or hold hands.

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.

Irfidel: you say 2 separate accounts with shared internet... is it happening to both at the same time or at different times? (or both)

I myself haven't seen the problem since 2005 though (in the first year it happened regularlyt to me though)

I thought this was the devs botched attempt at fixing the spam V bug. Have shown it to them and think they are trying to fix it.

Jarnys: Good question. If I remember correctly, then the two accounts' rubberbanding is uncorrelated. Appearing sometimes at similar times but mostly not. I don't think it's a general networking issue. It might be a glitch in the client server communication but then rather because of a ryzom protocol error our the likes, not because the ip connection is interrupted. Maybe it's just a client thing. But I'm just guessing here.

i too have recently started to notice this issue, running and be snaped back x meters, it's even more a pain when your running for you life in PR and almost getting away from a attacking mob, though i don't get it as much as the PW's i get every hour on the hour (and sometimes on bad days i get the PW's more often but always on the hour every hour, even when ryzom is the only thing running on my internet connection and i'm standing still chatting with players, i can set my watch by it in fact, i know when the hour changes on a good day when i don't get pw's, because i still get them every hour on the hour, it's becoming a joke between me and my in game friends.)

I too have been experiencing rubberbanding for several weeks now. I played for years before that without ever having this issue. Now it is almost too frustrating to play.

Rubberbanding is a feature i know from old SWG days. Instead of your moving to instantly freeze on connection issues the engine/server computes where you have been and continue as if nothing happend then as your connection reasteblishes it sychronizes with your real position causing the rubberbending effect.

its a feature ^^

the alternative is your movig to freeze that often.

#15 Report | Quote[en]

How about a third alternative, where the server is able to keep track accurately of our position :p
