Marauder is an organization, not a faction. There are two factions in this game, Kami and Karavan. Imagine it being equal to religions in the real world.

I know the word actually means something else, but on atys it has gotten this definition.

You shouldn't. The idea is that those of us who are already on FB can generate publicity for Ryzom in this manner, and the devs are bribing us to do so.
