hello,
Here's a list of alert feature who, i think, would be nice to have :
1-On the homepage of the webIG, be able to see how much mail you have, and how much followed threads has been updated.

2-When you wrote a thread in the forum, have a list of "people to warn" : you enter some names, and the thread is automatically added to their following list (so they got an IG alert in the compass, and can easily see it with the outG web interface, if idea 1 is available). Of course, you can choose to switch the option on/off as a user (so the thread won't be in your following list).

For example, i write a public letter to someone (who doesn't read the forum often, or not this forum in particular), he will get a notification showing him that there's a subject about it. Or, i publish an assembly/event report, and i can notify homins involved in that it is available.

3-Be warned when a new calendar event is added, or an already existing event is reported/canceled. A notification into the compass IG would be fine, and in the web interface a big underscored message in red (for example ...). There's a lot of event in the calendar (especially with the 3 local assembly), and sometimes when event are added 2/3 days before the ongoing date, you don't see them.

4-Be able to add (private) event to the calendar. For example, i have a meeting scheduled with other akenak. So i can had a new event, say who's concerned, and the people concerned will have a notification (similar to point 3), and they can accept it in their calendar or not.

Feel free to comment/post similar ideas :)

You asked for comments.

There is an IG (compass) warning for mail received and followed posts updated. Before the merge that corresponded to exactly what you want to see in the WebIG front page for forums and mail. I have no idea why it disappeared, but it can probably be brought back if there's enough demand and a dev gets a fragment of time free. At the same time, adding your item 3 might be easily accomplished.

In Item 2 I see a potential for abuse that is as high as Paramount Stock in an idea that on the surface sounds absolutely fantastic. People follow and ignore threads for a reason. Allowing a third person to change that just isn't a good thing in general.

As for your item 4, are you aware that you can put multiple recipients on an Izam Mail? Just put them into the To: section separated by commas and the mail will go out to all of them. I suspect that item 4 will be the hardest to code (and induce a lot of server load) because right now we don't have private calendars.

I notice today that the alert for forum updates on followed threads is back in the front page of the WebIG. Either that was a coincidence or it is proof that the devs and CSRs read these forums regularly.

I was just thinking on the Private Calendars thing. Are people aware that there is a Ryzom Facebook page? Just set up a yahoo email account in your toon name and set up an Event Calendar there (unless that function has been turned off, in which case we could ask that it be turned on).
