I will not participate in the event, because I see no fun in PvP like that, because I won't enjoy aggro dragging or getting DP.

But do I demand a comparable PvE event to compensate? Nope. As others have said, there have been plenty of PvE events and the rewards are comparable. All merge-relevant events had PvP strictly banned, and those events could give a noticeable advantage after the merge. The rewards of this PvP event aren't that noteworthy, either. Some crystals, some potions and some dappers. All are or will be attainable via normal PvE, and potions are mostly of interest to heavy PvPers in the first place.

And besides all that, we have no idea what future events are planned, so stop assuming the worst :)
