What do you think about creating a section in which we may have access to background details of an avatar? Could it be possible?

What information would you be interested in?
They're just pictures, most people seem to use their guild banner for it.

You mean like a player profile information page?
Would be nice, also would be nice if that could be accessed trough right click on a player.

Also add to that that you should be able to post small messages on such a user profile page, and that others can then comment on it. Yeah, what's that called again... ^^

Why not something like this but my first idea was something more RP as part of our character's history for instance.

Make that a part of our character profile ? So when you click on the Character's name, it displays that bit of information about them. And their profile also gives you a link to send them an ingame mail. So that Forum Private Message = Ingame Mail. Would be practical, don't you all think so ?

When I click on your name I can send you a mail :)

See ? It's so awesome that the Devs already implemented it. :P Only missing thing is the Character Profile page, now. :P

Yeah, great. So I can read whole books of character descriptions and how he or she was awarded that fictional title, or gained this mystical artifact and best of all, their stats and their armor and stuff...
Yeah, more WoW for the crowd. *bleh*
One thing´s for sure. You won´t get any Info about me, if you´re not willing to talk to me at any time.
I never understood why this "feature" was thought so "cool" anyway.
It´s just a way to get more info by less talking and interacting.

OK, Acridiel, next time I see Lylanea on, I'll ask about her history, how she came to the New Lands, where her parents are... oh, wait - Lylanea lives on a different Atys, and I can't run into her, because I'm not on that Atys... now I'll never know. Drat.

(Sorry, my friend, just pointing out that there might be good uses, as well as bad abuses. I agree that the majority would probably not use it, or would not use it for the RP purposes intended.)

I think some of you don't understand what I said.
I ask for a section in which we can write a part of the story of our character, telling about his past and aims for instance. Not related with gameplay, that totally opposite

I think most of us understood, though someone may have gotten carried away with Facebook feature jokes. :P

The point is that people probably could not be forced to use the feature you request in the way you intend it. The flood of not-as-you-wanted-it profiles would likely drown out the few who used it as you envision.

I agree, it would be nice to see characters' backstories, especially for those you can't meet in game. But after the 4th or 5th time seeing what Acridiel imagines, I'd probably stop looking, myself.

There is one idea "char diary", it is under review at the moment :) ... sounds like that, what you describe.

Ah, yes. I´m sorry, I misunderstood.
I thought you were referring to something like those "see stats (and other stuff) Ad-Ons for WoW, that would "allow" people to see what the other has written and their armors stats and such.

As for a Forum section, well... isn´t that what the RP-boards at atys.ryzom.com where partially for?
I used this to the fullest. And THERE (and only there) you may read things about my character. For I very much prefer things like that to be OFF-Game resources.
For, while I appreciated the writing effort some people took in WoW to "flesh out" a complete history for their characters, I hated it when they truly expected me to read through everything before first approaching them with any kind of RP. Because they needed me to know what tragic fate their chars. had experienced and all that. XD *shudder*
And while I don´t think the idea of a character diary would be bad, I don´t see a true need for it, because welll... we had the old RP-forums, we had the new RP-forums and just about no-one ever really cared about those and reading what was posted/written there by players.
So, why then come up with yet ANOTHER way to do this that people can ignore?
When I take a look at the Arispotle RP-Forums Section, I see 99% of CSR made posts. Aniro looks better, but Leanon sadly is almost the same. Maybe 10% Player Posts.
So, why didn´t people use those and why now suddenly declare interest in something that was there all along but wasn´t used?
