I unsubscribed my accounts the other day and got a message that character data will only be saved for 90days iirc. Is this an official new policy with the server merge? I thought it was just going to be in relation to the merge and problems assocuited with the merge.

I'ld sort of like to know so I know wether this is going to pretty much be it for me.

Glaz, I wish you had gotten the message exactly quoted... but my understanding on this so far is that it is a message that has always been there that says something to the effect of, we can't guarantee your account for more than 90 days, not necessarily that they "will delete" it... I am not quite sure yet, we will have to wait on an official reply, there are a lot of changes going on, I'll wait and see.

don't think they'll delete your account because if they'd delete account that are unsubbed for more than 90 days, why wouldn't thy delete the F2P accounts... If this makes sense

i dun think they delete the accounts .... around 2-3 years back i couldnt pay for ryzom for around 1 year(had no creditcard) after that year i could pay again and i still have my account and my char .... nothing got deleted...

As explained by Kimathia, this clause has always existed, but no one, even after years of inactivity, has ever found their characters deleted.
Which doesn't guarantee that it cannot happen in the future, but except if there was a serious need for that, I can't see why they would delete unsubed accounts' characters, seeing how so many old players, myself included, came back after long breaks, and might be dissuaded to do so if their toon was deleted.

Anyway, they probably just cleaned their databased with the recent merge, since any unsubed account's characters has been deleted then.

As others have noted, this has always been the case. Character retention is not guaranteed beyond the 90 days (although they have always strived to keep characters intact as much as possible.)
