Further report: Used as target in the shortcut:

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c start /affinity 2 C:\"Program Files (x86)"\"Ryzom"\client_ryzom_rd.exe

(Note 2 instead of your 8, this was just a test run to get it to use anything but CPU 0.)

It didn't work. Rather, it worked just fine to start the client, but it was still using CPU 0 :((

I had a problem at first and it was a , or a' in the wrong place, make sure your spacing and everything is as I wrote. It works on my windows 7 64Bit perfectly fine.

Your problem is with permissions. If you have UAC turned on, you have to run task manager as administrator to change affinity. Using shortcuts does not bypass that. So in order for your shortcut to change affinity, you will have to have your task manager as always in admin mode (UAC off)

I am trying WinAFC and will see if that works, but your explanation makes sense and since I have no real understanting of the UAC thingy I'm reluctant to turn it off. :(

Yay -- WinAFC wins. I run it as Administrator and it discovers the instances of ryzom and switches them around like a champ. It's not the most intuitive program, but it's working for me and the UAC has not been turned off.

bittty, you can add lines to bat files with notepad, and input all the data we add to the windows shortcut into this file, it's a very old school thing, think ms-dos. (so if you input the commands to do the same things with msdos commands in the bat file, you can do it with the bat file)

i'll share the crumbs i have left with you on this one, so ryzom didn't get it all, lolx

Other games - they give you a cookie whether you succeed or not, in fact you don't even have to participate. Ryzom takes your cookie, eats it in front of you, and slaps you 2 or 3 times for bringing a cookie in the first place.
