this could get extremely messy...which channels would you do it in? how would it know they were talking to you? would you have to use the whole chars name?

I guess the only plausible way this could be done is to have a status icon next to your chat text...which would obviously go once the chat moved on and the text disappeared.

Ehm.. I think he means the little icon next to the name in friends and guild list. I guess you could have the afk status show when you do a /who in a channel.

well that should be fairly easy to do then :)

No, just change the icon in the friends and guild lists.

Bumped just in case this isn't on the radar of the dev team, knowing they're now at least telling us if it's going to be implemented or not.

+1 I also think that, like some others said, that it would be useful in a '/who' context -- as in whe in sys info it comes up with the list of people in the area, it also has '-afk'. For example Psykro-afk I just think it would make things a lot more clear cut.

In the /who case, a -inactive tag would be especially useful. I cannot count the times I've needed a rez, do a /who and see lots of people, and call out... and get no reply until I post on Uni and a friend teleports in to help me. Such a tag would, of course, be complex to program.

being one of the two members of the "afk couple" i would like this very much to let everyone know what's going on. and what we're doing while afk.

sounds like the basic useful idea would be:

1) after a certain amount of time not pressing any buttons / clicking etc, AFK self-activates

2) the /who command would also display

Bitttymacod
Eruv (AFK)

etc.

Sooo many positive responses to this very simple and useful idea, It is now a year old and seems to have been overlooked... No GM update as to weather or not this idea will be used?

#28 [en]

If i'm not mistaken we had in the past a different icon for ppl connected to the ryzom ring so if that worked then afk should be possible i think

This idea will be studied.
