1) Forced on me at login. I could tolerate that, if not for the fact that...

2) I can't leave the channel, because it has a space in the name, and...

3) It is inserted BEFORE my other channels, screwing up my channel numbering.

If you are going to automatically add a temporary event channel, add it to the end of my list ... the way all other channels are added.

Better yet, don't automatically add the channel.

And you can't type into it and it still takes away from the amount of channels you can be in.

Its for the events....If you don't want it separate it from the main box and stick it someplace you don't care about. Perhaps even under another window. That's what I do if I really need to but usually I have no issue with them

That don't solve the limited amout of channels you can be part of and the numbering of channels... (like when you have macros with /0 for saying something in Kami or Kara...)

#5 Report | Quote[en]

The event channels do not count as cutom channels and do not take away from the number you can open up.
Isn't kara/kami always /1??? IDK I never use the user channel....

Since when are players forced to participate in something?

#7 Report | Quote[en]

Ever since i play there always was a separate channel for all major events, but back than you had no custom channels so it did not bother anyone.

#8 Report | Quote[en]

Good grief - I am just grateful they are doing events - they are not paid and it takes a lot of time - my thanks to the events team and an extra channel for a brief while is no real problem in the scheme of things - role play, as little as we have, is surely something to just enjoy or ignore (though why ignore it, I have no idea)

This idea of "I'm offended". Well I've got news for you. I'm offended by a lot of things too. Where do I send my list? Life is offensive. You know what I mean? Just get in touch with your outer adult. (Bill Hicks)

The Anlor Winn channel is a much better method than the old way of spamming the sysinfo with event info every hour (and still not seeing cause it scrolls by too fast to notice in combat )

Homins can look at the channel for the info on weekend events, if there is a change or new event added the tab turns red to let you know.

There is no forcing anyone to do anything.

If you don't like the events, ignore it.

The real "problem" is that a number of RPers use macros to help with commonly used phrases so they can get them into the chat window without having to stop digging or whacking that Tyrancha as the case may be.
Kami/Karavan comes up as /0 and Civ alignment comes up as /1 (assuming you have both). With the event channel taking the /0 slot, any chat macro using /0 or /1 will now either not work or go to the wrong channel. An RP event that breaks the RP efforts of players is a bit backwards, wouldn't you agree?

The solution is really very simple. Assign the channel a text name /Event or have the channel take /9. I suspect that using /Event would be much easier to implement.

The order of dynamic channels (of which the event, cult and civ channels are part) is, at the moment, not guaranteed to stay the same between logins.

That may be but in practice, it is extremely reliable and it makes sense that it is that way.

If you have only one alignment, Kami/Karavan OR civ, then that alignment takes /0. If you have both Kami/Karavan and civ, Kami/Kara takes /0 and civ takes /1. My guess is that the program checks Kami/Kara alignment first which creates that channel first, /0, and then checks civ alignment giving that channel /1.

If the program is checking alignments in the same order every time, then the channels will, by design or not, appear in the same order every time.

Took the words out of my mouth Bina - Good grief.

There's always complaints that players aren't informed about events properly and missed announcements. As Xatokar says, this channel is the best way of announcing a rapid chain of multiple events yet. What's more, it's two days. It hampers your ability to use your macros on the two least used chat channels for two days.

Sure, it's an annoyance, nothing wrong with making this annoyance known and asking if it can't be moved to the end your list. But immediatly jumping to it being "intolerable", that's it better not being there at all, unfoundedly portraying it worse than it actually is (it doesn't take away how much channels you can be in), and turning it into a huge political issue of players being "forced to participate"... Disproportionate response much?

I'm glad we actually have patches and events. They are not perfect, because only a handful of people are behind them. You should join the team and change what you dislike!

+1 Marelli. Amazing how trying to keep players informed per the players request is vehemently denounced. A more reasonable response was that it interfered with your macros and suggesting a better way to do it.
