Well, when I was trying to spend points on magic skills, I accidentally selected Stamina Gift. I don't really have a use for it, and in most games I've played before, selecting the wrong skills, sometimes even just one, can be a troublesome mistake.

I asked some people on Universe chat about this, and one person said that there's no such thing as bad skill choices in the game with the fact that you can do and be almost whatever you want in the game and such.

Another person said that Stamina Gift isn't a bad skill to have, but it won't be useful right away and that it will just be a minor hiccup and nothing worth re-rolling over.

I also read a guide for magic somewhere when googling it that said that I should get Stamina Gift 1 early on because it will be useful in restoring the Stamina of melee-focused people in parties later on, especially if I aim on playing the role of magic support.

However, despite all of this, I want to be sure. I don't like the feeling of choosing the wrong things like that, but it really doesn't seem to be worth making a new character over. Yet, at the same time, it's still early.

Also, while I'm asking this, what kind of magic rolls are there in this game? Are the combinations endless or what?

When all is said and done you'll have more SP than you'll be able to spend. So like they said you can't make a completely wrong choice, it just means you'll have to level up some more to get the skill you intended in the first place.

As for the usefulness of the skill, yes it is useful for healing tanks.

Sounds good to me, then. Thanks for the reply!

Keep in mind with the many branches on the skill tree and the fact you will have over 3K extra skill points after purchasing every magic skill. You can always do lvls on another skill to pick up sps if you make a bad choice. Stamina gift is a must have skill for anyone healing a party using a tank.-Kilgoretrout

Ah, ok then. I'm not too fond of the role of healer, but with the different skills I can get in the game and it being one skill and with how the action system is, I can play as different roles, can't I?

I'll just keep on going then. If I can even play again. I've been busy lately.

Thanks for the information.

You can play whatever "role" you like, yes - if you have bought the action you can use it, and buying a certain action will never lock out another action. I'm a master healer, decent nuker (DPS magic), and semi-useful Offensive Magician (Title says it all. Well, ok, really OA is debuffs. But I like "Offensive Magician" better). And I can use any, or all, or none of those "roles" in the same day - in the same kill, even. :)

As Nysha was alluding, your role depends on whatever skill or ability you're using at the time. Often, a person tanking in heavy armour and using some sort of pokey or smashy weapon will turn around and heal a companion when necessary. At that moment, the player who was a tank has become a healer, regardless of the fact that the person is holding a melee weapon and wearing heavy armour.

It can be a hard mold to break out of, considering the wealth of class-based games (computer-based and non-). With Ryzom, it is more "What do you want to do" (there are no limits) as opposed to "Who are you" (that's all you can do).
