IDEAS FOR RYZOM

Here's an Idea that just popped into my head.

it would be interesting to have an item with a guild or a faction standard on it. The existing CSR sceptres could be used for that. they already have a circular placeholder at the top.

One would not be able to really fight with it (something like the redundant staff) but it would be seen from afar when carried. It would then occupy both hands.

But just imagine all the opportunities at events and OP battles suddenly opening up to low lvls. With little hp they would be easy to rez too. This way even the lvl 50 could participate in something really exciting and be useful to the guildmates + what an honor being a standard bearer.

And when various guilds gather for an OP fighht - many standards would be seen above the army...

PS Sorry if it was voiced before and i simply wasn't reading the forums far enough back.

I love the idea of seeing an army of either faction or neutrals banners waving in the wind before the big clash.

Indeed it would be an honour for anyone to carry the flag of the guild

Truly outstanding idea

Yeah that's the picture I've seen too.
Though banners waving is hardly possible in Ryzom - not enough physics in the engine for that imho.

There are a few different varieties of CSR staves though - round ones, with horns, plain ones etc. It would be great to have them craftable by say... the tool crafter. Then he could vary the designs he puts on them.
And they don't have to glow of course :)

Yes +1!

The flag bearer is a position of honor. It takes real strength to go into battle carrying just the banner!

Plus imagine the fun with capture the flag we could have.

Yes it would be awesome!
F2P can do something on OP battles then :)

Agreed that this would be a nice idea. I wonder just how much load it would add to the client, though.

No different from holding any other weapon.

And, standards can be designed that do not "wave in the wind". For instance, the emblems could be on flat pieces of bone at the end of a pole or on cloth held tight between poles.

And of course, HQ Fyros standards must have flames encircling the emblem...Zorai, electricity etc...

I like this idea.
If it could potentially be used for capture the flag, I'm guessing the banner wouldn't change based on who wields it. How would it be decided what banner's attached, then? The guild of the creator? The guild of the person to "use" it (which must be done before it can be wielded)? Other?

If banners get implemented, I would expect them to be an item for special purchase, followed by a session with an editor to apply the picture. They could be stored in the GH and taken out to be given to the standard bearer. Capture the flag would have to depend on voluntary handover, obviously.

It would be nice to have Japanese style smaller banners that attached to your armor, that you could customize. I don't know how many times I've been in a group and had someone say "All the healers come to me," and not be able to find whoever "me" was. (Not just OP battles but also Marauder Bosses and Events.) To be able to "pop" a flag would be a big help. (And, just as in the real world, would make you a target.)
