IDEAS FOR RYZOM

I think it would be cool to have Racial Factioned Amps ie. Burning Fyros Amp, Electric Zoraï Amp, Waving Tryker Amp and Livign Matis Amp. They would be a 100% all and have a 5% Boost of the specific Race's Spell ie Fyros would have a +5% Power and Strenght to Fire etc. but they would have NO Hp/Sap bonus on them. These Amps you would only be able to get from the Imperia, Dynastic, Federal, and Royal Merchants for Faction Points.

The cost would be like:
q50 = 5000 FP
q100 = 10000 FP
q150 = 20000 FP
q200 = 50000 FP
q250 = 100000 FP

I think it would be great to have something like this in game. I think many would start doing Faction Missions more.

I like the idea of a new design for amps, and the bonus to the racial spells sounds interesting. However, the all-100 sounds too high, no matter how much it costs. It isn't balanced by the lack of hp/sap boost, since that amounts to 125 of either, which isn't much overall.

Super-zun amps are 96-97 in all but one (depending on your mix of the other bits), so anything purchased shouldn't be higher than that. Maybe have two options, a lower cost but lower performing at all-90, and then a higher cost and higher performing at all-95. The racial bonus would make the all-95 version effectively all-100 when casting the racial spells. (I predict a lot of Zora versions of this being purchased, if implemented) =)

Super-zun and player-crafted amps would still be better, particularly if rubbarn procs, so the min-max player would still go for crafted. The faction amps could be a good fallback if you run out of crafted mats.

An all round 100% Amp is possible to make if you got enough of the Black Generic Mat that the Marauders brought. A 100% most Amp is possible form carefully selected mats and a use of Maga or Cheng. And the fact that it would have no HP/Sap bonus is a drawback to some. Especially as Factioned Items have Boosted those bonuses. ie the Burning Krat. q10 Fyros Burning Pick with 125 HP and 250 Focus boost.

But this is just an idea open for finetuning.

I would LOVE to see it in game.

(BTW i do have a 100/100 Heal 96/100 Ele Amp so a 95% all would not tempt me to go for it)

Yeah, I have a pair of 95s that I'm grinding with now. I actually haven't figured out what I want to buy yet with my points, I'm just collecting them for now. =)

Crafted top-quality amps require quantities of Boss mats, excluding the special one-time mats like the Marauder material. Bosses aren't necessarily always around when you need or want them to be, so there is some competition for taking them down, and you may even need to share the mats when you do get one. And there is also the possibility that the boss may not drop what you need, as has happened to me many times, so you're stuck for the next few days waiting for a respawn that someone else may get before you do. Then you need to craft them and suffer the chance of a degrade or even have the chance of a boost.

When you look at the bottom line, I guess they both come out to say "Just keep plugging away at it, and you'll eventually get it", but it seems like a lot more group effort went into the crafted amps compared to the purchased amps which only requires a long tedious grind. But just looking at the numbers and statistics, it probably wouldn't matter as long as the faction point cost was set appropriately.

I guess it just makes me twitch a little to see something as important as amps available from an NPC vendor at a quality that is comparable to player-crafted items, even at a high cost. =)

What about a single-use recipe to craft elemental-effect amps with the 5% racial boost that you can purchase from the faction vendor? I don't think we have support right now for single-use recipes, so that might need to be added. But if that does get implemented, maybe a lot of faction items could be turned into single-use recipes?

You would still have the benefit from doing faction point mission (the 5% racial bonus), but still need the item to be crafted, allowing for degrades and boosts. And if Rubbarn procs, you could even have up to 116 + 5 for racial spells.

Sort of drifting away from the original idea though, I guess.

You right. Yeah 95% would be great as well.

Perhaps instead of single-use recipes, a new mat required for civ-specific amps which could only be purchased with faction points?

The idea is NOT to craft the amps but to buy them for FP. It would NOT be available any other way.

#8 [en]

Absolutely NO. Special materials that can only be purchased with faction points maybe, but no useful (and especially overpowered like this) items that can be purchased from a vendor.
This is Ryzom, we craft our gear, it doesn't drop from a yubo!

And if introduced it should be hideously expensive and mostly cosmetic so as not to create a situation where the only way to have a chance of being "effective" in say pvp (which is what everything is focussed around lately, sadly) is to use those amps.

Don't want to get into WoW like situations where you're kicked from a team for not having highly specific items of gear on you.

NO to ready made byable Items from a vendor. (I already find the faction-piks horrible, why can I not buy the plan and special "focusboost" mat and craft it myself?)

Do you not buy XP-boost and sap crystals from faction points?
Does nobody wear pink, green, beige or turquoise?
I can't seem to get enough faction points ever.

Always Yes to new faction plans and faction mats for more diverse amp-models.

Or why not buy OP-mats from faction points too ;) ?

How about a tool buyable for faction points that introduces some effect
I'm using fyros as a sample below - would be available for other nations as well though.

A generic tool:
Effect: reduce the chance of failure during crafting a little bit (1-2%) for any fyros plan (increase it the same amount for other national plans - no influence on international ones)
Cost: 1k dapper + 1k Fyros faction points
Durability: half of a normal tool

A specialized tool:
Effect: give a special boost for the type of fyros equipment crafted (eg. boost on fire spell for amplifiers)
Restrictions: can only be used for one special item type (eg. amplifiers)
Cost: 10k dappers + 10k Fyros faction points
Durability: quarter of normal tool
(could add the effect of the generic tool as well, but would increase cost and lower durability further in that case)
