Please remove item #4 under the "For Profit" category, the item referring to kill stealing on bosses. It is not competition; it is griefing and is punishable by the CSRs as detailed in this post (specifically paragraphs 3 and 4).

That post also answers your question on how to react when someone else finds a boss first.

@Erizon

Ok.

Does Assassin Season still run? I know Marelli hasn't put down her pointy sticks... :p

Today while helping a Guild mate gain some fame I realized that this while being cooperative is also competitive. How so? I am happy to help noobs out but my friends of equal level I want to be higher, stronger, ... than them.

Great discussion.

That was organised by Sunce I believe, and only ran twice.

Kinds of impressive how he got such huge, long-lasting Atys-wide events going...

What's that Assassin Season thing? ^^

There used to be a few weeks (months?) each year during which players would put out contracts on each other, and other players would accept those contracts and head out to try and kill the target, for payment/prestige/lols/whatever. It was fun - the assassins were always very gracious about it all and didn't try to kill people in a nasty/malicious way (some even went as far as to only attack their targets when the targets were surrounded by guildies and the assassins were on their own, right Mar? ;) ), but it was sort of a matter of good sportsmanship for the target to agree to fight the assassin, and much entertainment was provided.

I'm not surprised that it wasn't a terribly important scheme - I just remember it because it was one of my formative noob memories. Which means you have been a nearly-master-but-a-little-too-lazy-to-quite-get-there longer than I've been playing.

I need some more information about Supernodes, Fyros Akenak and Yubo Ball (Ora forgive us).

Thanks! :D

<--- Carebear. That being said, I wouldn't mind some friendly PVP or competition. Such as even friendly guilds playing save the king or save the VIP in Prime Roots in which one player is the VIP once taken down for a certain time the other team wins. Wins what, I don't know but maybe just for fun. Seeing as there is no XP gain or very little running around Prime Roots trying not to get killed and PVPing, that may hurt the idea some. From my experience it is very hard to get these things going. So good luck. Maybe I will try today after I get home from work. =D

Don't read if you don't want to be riled up =P :

Sorry to bring this up again but from what I saw in Uni was, a new person asking questions, which in my mind didn't lead me to think he/she wanted to grief but was just asking per what Uni is for and our "community" saying, "go play something else." and something like, "go play something else if you don't like it". Which I considered rude and more of a "griefing" behavior than asking a question in the channel for asking questions.

I work in a customer service job and my fellow workers aren't very customer service friendly. So I do tend to be called the "nice one" or, hear "good, that rude lady isn't here" in which I am proud to be the nice one and not the rude one. I have thought about it, and well, those who are chatting in universe can be seen from everywhere and maybe should take a moment to consider that they are the representatives of our community. It is a hard thing to remember for myself when a new person is asking for free armor and such and I may joke about crafting a couple hundred light armor booties.... then again I did craft that guy some armor. =p

After going through the game almost dying twice, which was very sad both times. Can we, as a community, consider that the more new people we get would mean the more money the game would get, would mean the more stable our beloved game will stay. Stop fighting new ideas so much, stop being Ryzombies, and be the good community we really are.

After working in a big business type setting I've learned that it's better to keep and get new customers to keep the flow of money coming in. Since the economy, at least where I am at, is not the greatest right now, my group should be very careful with their customers or else lose business we need.

And yeah, if people are spamming Uni with cussing at us then give them the boot! =D

I hope I made sense. =)

I expect this post being deleted soon, but whatever.

Seriously, i'm tired of some paranoid people over here thinking of Ryzom as of their very own private elite club. I'm sure, they would be happy, if psychological test dedicated to detect and drive out potential "jerks" would be implemented and must be successfully passed by anyone trying to play this game. All these self-promoted "voices of the community", struggling to repel anyone who doesn't fit their criteria of being "a nice person" and easily putting labels on people they have chatted with for a couple of minutes. You ask "wrong" questions in Uni? You must be griefer and troll, and in RL you start your day with kicking puppies. Go play another game. You like PvP? You are ganker for sure. Go play another game. You like to compete with other people in general? You are latent griefer. Go play another game. You gassed someone's cheap crap packer? You are griefer again and must be banned. Go play...

You all can hide in your little corner, every minute expecting bunch of griefers jumping on you from behind, but can't do that forever. Truth is, low populated games tend to die. List of examples proving it is quite long. Although, as i understand it, Winch Gate is doing its best to minimize financial costs by all means, it won't last forever either. Bigger population is needed, both for financial and gameplay reasons. Even if that will bring in game various types of players. Face it, deal with it, get used to it. Pissing off newcomers doesn't help population to grow up, as well as telling them to go away or convincing them to quit because "this game is not for you". Keep to yourself your kind advices and let them decide on their own, mkay. Stop RPing selectors trying to sort out black sheeps and judging who can and who can not enter the game.

Tumbleweed, you do have a good point. But what you are saying is that no game should be different. Ryzom has always been different. Why follow along with all the other games and be the griefers/wankers haven? If you like competition and want to play your way and this game is not your style then don't play it, simple. So if you want a game like that and this one is not like it why try to change it. Play that game if this one is not what you want. I have tested like 15 games and played more, I am here in Ryzom cause this is the type of game I like to play after I have to have a day of stress and aggravation. This of course is off topic of the question asked. But I needed to say that.
I am sorry for this going off topic.

Oh and Dihunt, I work in customer service and I am known as the nice one also. :)
